티아라 미니앨범 6집 - DAY BY DAY

01. DAY BY DAY(타이틀)
02. HOLIDAY
03. 떠나지마
04. HUE

T-ara's Last Stand? Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
(You can read my full review on Amaz0n, and why I call it a last stand)

"Day By Day" is T-ara's mini-album for summer 2012, and the first CD featuring new member Areum. It features 5 all-new songs, with its title track being of the same name as the album. The album carries a stereotypical 'sexy' concept, and has more in common with their "Black Eyes" CD. The CD is still good dance/club music, and shouldn't be passed on, but it's nothing groundbreaking:

1. Day By Day: a regular T-ara upbeat pop song, more reminiscent of their previous "Cry Cry" than their last title track "Lovey Dovey". Even though it's the title track, you can barely hear the lead singer, Soyeon. Instead, you hear Hyomin, Eunjung, Hwayoung, and Areum. This shows why T-ara really doesn't need any new members, but I'll get into that later. The only irksome aspect is the use of incorrect-grammar-English. I know none of the members speak English, but the fact that they use it so much in their title track is just odd.

2. Holiday: another upbeat pop song. It's decent, and Hwayoung's rap is the star of the song, but the oddly pronounced 'holy-day' might come off as annoying instead of catchy. Ironically, even though you can't hear lead singer Soyeon's voice in "Day By Day", you can clearly hear it here, but the song doesn't make that great of a use of it.

3. Don't Leave: a ballad. It's another good T-ara ballad, and though I prefer T-ara's upbeat songs, I wouldn't skip it in my playlist. However, because there are now 8 voices in the song, it's even harder to pick out whose voice is whose.

4. Hue: an upbeat dance song. The addition of techno reminds me of my brother's American techno music mixed with Korean singing. If you like that kind of music, or American techno, give this song a shot. However, I'm not too fond of the more-annoying-than-catchy "Whoa-oh" - like Holiday, it just doesn't have the same ring as their hit classic "Bo Peep Bo Peep".

5. Love Play: an upbeat pop song. It's not bad and is reminiscent of some of the secondary tracks on their "Black Eyes album", namely "I'm So Bad". There's not much electronic sounds, just a beat and singing.

Like their "Black Eyes" photobook, "Day By Day" is a thick, rectangular photo album featuring all the members dressed in modern tight white dresses, plus shots from their music video. Unlike the "Black Eyes" book, which was dark colored, the "Day By Day" book contrasts the light-colored members with the dark shots from the music video.

T-Ara Fighting ! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I love this EP so much,
The songs are really good ^^
Holiday, Day by day and Love game are more Sad dance songs, while HUE is a really good Pop song. But my favorite is definitely Don't leave. Such strong vocals.
And the packaging is also really good!
it has a photo-shoot part and a Music video sketch part.
I really love the photo-shoot, and all the members are in there.
I also really like the Music video sketch part, it has stills, making off and POPART/Posters for the M/V.
The only sad things is that not all the members have a role in the M/V.
I really recommend this album to any K-pop fan of QUEENS/KINGS

A Clash of Swords! Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Considering that T-ara have been in Problem Street lately, its refreshing that T-ara’s latest mini album is very good. In fact probably one the best T-ara releases to date. The title song ‘Day By Day’ is a winner with a flute medieval hamlet theme (can imagine fantasy game ‘heroes’ having a respite in a town to this gentle theme) supporting a bright sci-fi/mediaeval fantasy dance melody. It’s a ballad type, but in mid tempo beat. It’s catchy, very catchy! But all five songs are decent. ‘Holiday’ is all right (a little Divichi-ish), 80s synth pop ‘Hue’ is a boppy electronic and third song ‘Don’t Leave’ is another possible main song. Along with ‘Love Game’, five very catchy songs (lol).

Yeah, the song ‘Day By Day’ as got a nice gaming fantasy theme, especially the MV (shame there’s no DVD included to view the full drama video). T-ara’s fantasy theme parallels my present fantasy gaming, too; Dungeon Siege 3, Blades of Time and the sword wielding T-ara warriors share a similar warrior woman catwalk. Can’t help thinking of Katarina from Dungeon Siege 3 somehow (although she does have pistols instead of swords) and certainly Nariko from Heavenly Sword. Hyomin even looks a bit Blood Rayne by the red hair (lol). ‘Day By Day’ is a sci-fi/fantasy rather than medieval and certainly apocalyptic.

The album book packaging is a whopper, too. Another of those big hardback landscape coffee table tomes to make your fancy table quiver with even more weight. Loads of promotional T-ara member colour portrait photos and a ‘Day By day’ MV/making of photo section. Similar to T-ara’s ‘Black Eyes’ mini album. It’s black/white opposites theme again with T-ara in white on the front and wearing dark clothing on the backside of the book. It’s good though and I’d certainly recommend DBD. Certainly more than the iDOL rumour hype about T-ara’s recent scandal nonsense. If a storm-in-a-teacup ‘scandal’ is run through the media mill and took seriously (and K-pop needs to have its iDol controversies) its more crumbs from the propaganda-esque circus to keep people confused. Well, maybe not always, but cynical reactions will be the norm if we keep getting oblique crying wolf stories. Still, I’d recommend sober mindness over pet jealousies and crass controversy. Is it worth all the mass media sweat? Nah, you can be loved without it. T-ara - keep level headed, considerate and true, united and compassionate - it’s a better deal even on a bad day.

Differrent! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
the one thing i always loved t-ara is that their music is always different. I remember when I got their first album and found how unique that most of their tracks had a different style of music in it. I really like their title songs Day by Day(the mv reminds me of final fantasy and fist of the northstar) and Don't Leave me ( i really like the power I feel from the song)
