Secret - Poison Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I'm not a big fan of Secret, I'd listened to them a few times and been unimpressed. When I saw the video for Poison I thought "sounds like Beyonce's Crazy in Love", which it does, due to both the beat and the saxophone part. However, the single grew on me so I included a copy of this album with an order for some other cds and I've been pleasantly surprised!
Firstly, the album itself is strong. There are only 5 tunes on it, but no instrumentals, and they are all well written and produced. The opener "Telepathy" is a gentle, ballad style song with very traditional production but a catchy chorus and sweet vocals. Next is "Poison", the single, available to view on popular video streaming sites. This is more up-tempo and dancey, with a hip-hop/r'n'b feel though still quite acoustic sounding. Then we have "Falling in Love", a slower love song which has a Motown feel, soulful and melodic, and a good hooky chorus. Fourth is "Calling You", again soulful but a little more up-tempo than Falling a Love. Finally there's "1,2,3" which borrows quite heavily from Britney's "Hit me baby one more time" for it's verse, but has a chorus all it's own. This last tune has slightly more contemporary production.
At just over 18 minutes this is short for an album, but the songs are all well written and produced so I'd consider it a fair purchase.
The packaging for the album is excellent. It comes in a box 21x21x3cms with an embossed design with holographic glitter, which extends to all sides of the package. It's a nice sturdy box too.
Opening it up reveals firstly two folded posters, one of the whole group and I guess one is a random member, I got the awesomely named "Zinger". Based on the size of the box I'd say the posters were 63x42cms.
Next is a 64 page booklet in the same style as the box, again embossed and with holographic glitter. This has photos of the girls from the Poison video shoot and is lovely, the embossed graphics continue inside the booklet and give it a luxurious feel. It also has lyrics and credits at the end.
The secret girls aren't your typically stick thin kpop girl group and look fantastic in both the posters and the booklet.
I am very impressed with this album and will be keeping an eye on any further Secret releases.

Secret time, in a Go Big Or Go Home way Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
After running off to Japan to promote their previous songs (seems to be a regular occurrence for K-Pop artists these days), 4-member K-Pop group has returned with their 3rd mini-album. Bringing back their old friend and well known composer Kim Kibum, Secret presents their fans with the jazz-pop music they are known for, reminiscent of their prior hits 'Madonna' and 'Magic'. I'll fill in more in music review later, since if you know Secret, this album will be very familiar. What I want to draw your attention to, however, is the amount of physical goodies the actual CD gives you.

The title track, ‘Poison’, has all the makings of another Secret hit (no pun intended), as it falls into the same style as 'Madonna' and 'Magic'. You still get all the vocal goodness of the 4 members, but there's a difference this time. Unlike their previous hit, 'Love Is Move', which seemed to be dominated by lead singer Ji Eun (nothing wrong, her voice is great and has exceptional vocal range), 2nd lead singer Hyosung gets quite a bit more of the spotlight now. From a musician's point of view, Hyosung has more of a mid-tone voice, while Ji Eun has a higher pitched voice but can still cover a greater range. Frankly, their singing and the song still sounds great, and I don’t mind at all. The other track Secret performs often is ‘Calling You’, a sweet, slower but still upbeat song that really brings out the soft charm in their voices, in contrast to the intensity that ‘Poison’ has.

Remember how I mentioned the CD was packaged ‘Go Big Or Go Home’ style? If their “Love Is Move” album was large, “Posion” is even larger. It’s square again but the dimensions are book-sized – it’s a good 21cm x 21cm (8.25in x 8.25in). You get the CD, a poster of all members in their music video outfits, and a randomly assorted poster of one of the members (I got Ji Eun). The outside packaging is a purple glossy cardboard box that feels solid for a standard mini-album price. If you’re thrifty but still want the physical CD, pick this one up – you won’t be disappointed by either the music nor the packaging.
