Nothing brings the world together like soccer! Set during the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, Dreams Come True (a.k.a. On the Pitch) bridges the North-South divide with the feel-good story of soldiers bonding over soccer at the DMZ. Lee Sung Jae stars as a soccer-crazy North Korean squad commander stationed at the Korean border. One day during patrol, his squad runs into a group of South Korean soldiers on recon. Animosity gives way to curiosity and unlikely friendship when the soldiers discover their shared love for soccer. The soldiers establish secret radio communication to listen to World Cup broadcasts together, but trouble brews when their secret is discovered by the North Korean authorities. Released during the 2010 World Cup season, Dreams Come True is directed by Kye Yun Sik (4 Toes) and co-stars Kang Sung Jin, Choi Ji Hyun, Jeong Kyeong Ho, and Chu Sang Rok. Popular boy band Super Junior sang the movie's theme song.

전 세계가 열광의 붉은 기운으로 물들던 2002년 한일월드컵 당시,유일하게 고요함만이 감돌던 DMZ 북한 43GP. 비록 바람 빠진 공을 차지만 폼만은 국가대표급인 1분대장은 홍명보부터 박지성까지 남한의 축구선수명단을 줄줄이 읊을 만큼 사상이 둥근 축구광이다.
야간수색을 하던 어느 날, 1분대장과 분대원들은 허기를 달래고자 멧돼지를 쫓던 중
남측 군사들과 맞닥뜨리게 되는데…
그 이후 무전병에 의해 알 수 없는 신호와 함께 남한의 월드컵 중계방송 주파수가 잡히자 1분대 전원은 목숨을 걸고 경기일 마다 그 주파수에 맞춰 다이얼을 돌린다.
과연 월드컵 하나로 뭉친 남북 병사들에게 어떤 일이 벌어질까?

This movie is so hilarious ... You would laugh and cry (near the end) at the same time. I'm so touched by the strong bond between the team leader (Lee Sung Jae's character) and his team mates. The most touching scene was the one where they saluted him before he left the compound. You could cry with them and the director almost fooled you to believe that his escape was failed.... It is a must see for all Korean movie fans! |
