台湾の巨匠・蔡明亮（ツァイ・ミンリャン）監督作品の常連俳優、李康生（リー・カンシェン）が監督・脚本・主演を務めた作品。自殺志願の男が、電話相談で会話を交わした女性に心を惹かれてゆく。蔡明亮仕込みのエロティックかつアーティスティックな映像で好評を博し、ベネチア国際映画祭や東京フィルメックスにも出品された。共演は台湾のガールズグループ Lady 4ほか。
株で失敗して全財産を失い自暴自棄になっていた阿杰は、アパートに引きこもってマリファナの栽培と吸引に明け暮れていた。ある日彼は、自殺志願者の話を聞くホットライン“命の電話”にダイヤルし、彼の話を聞いてくれた女性に思いを馳せるようになる。

Ah Jie has lost everything on the stock market due to a severe economic crisis. He spends his days in his sealed apartment, looking after the marijuana plants that he secretly grows in a wardrobe and smoking marijuana joints. In his desolation, he calls a helpline and gets to know Chyi, whose sweet and gentle voice causes him to fall in love with his fantasized image of her. He tries to ask her out but is repeatedly rejected. He begins projecting his fantasy of Chyi on Shin, the new girl working at the betel nut stall downstairs who is always sexily dressed to lure male customers. He becomes closer to Shin and the two of them sink deeply into a world of erotic and psychedelic pleasures...
