Li Chun Foon (Dave Wang) is a swordsman who spends most of his days in a drunken state. While his swordplay suffers due to his inebriation, he still meets the lovely Snow (Gigi Lai), who agrees to become his wife. But Li is drunk to the gills even on their wedding day, which upsets his stern father (Japanese action legend Sonny Chiba). Even after the wedding. Li continues to spend too much time drinking. His pathetic state becomes abusive for Snow, and his father becomes even more enraged at his son's uselessness. Finally, Li is challenged to rise above his pitiful existence, and he agrees to undertake a dangerous mission for his father. But will he be able to regain his skill with the sword, or his self-respect?

It is worse than a complete disaster! I read the book a few times when I was a child. Then I read it again last week. I still was not able to understand the hell with the movie. If the director wants to write the story, he should not use the same name. I agree with previous reviewers. It was only my will power carrying me to the end of the movie (not to mention frequent snack breaks - even I was embarrassed to see one of my favorite charater was reduced to mere a silly fool). As to how a Korean (btw, who appeared only in fighting scenes and who seemed to be rather an innocent bystander) got into plot, only the screen writer can answer that. In any case, stay away from this senseless film. |
