2008年为一代功夫巨星李小龙逝世35周年，由央视斥资五千万元拍摄的励志电视剧《李小龙传奇》，由《少林足球》和《功夫》陈国坤演绎功夫巨星风范的李小龙，能让观众更加了解真实的李小龙，剧中还邀请了多位荷里活明星担任角色，包括曾主演过《星球大战》、《变种特攻》的Park Ray，以及《蜘蛛侠2》的Tim Storms等。
这套50集的大型连续剧展现了疯魔全球的李小龙不为人知的真实一面，当中诠释了他与妻子间的浪漫恋情，以及大耍他的招牌武学截拳道。导演李文歧和制片人俞胜利大力支持「超级李小龙迷」的陈国坤饰演李小龙的角色，除了与李小龙在外型有九成的相似度，为了在剧中拍摄了李小龙作为武术大师的精彩打斗，陈国坤更在此剧开拍前半年跟李小龙的徒孙学武，并保持完美身段演出，功夫动作颇有快感。
此剧制作经年，拍摄花了七个月，并远赴美国三藩市、西雅图和洛杉矶等多个城市取景拍摄，以及李小龙就读的爱迪生技术学校和他的墓地等处取景。此外，选角过程严谨，剧组更请来李小龙的爱女李香凝协助选角及对剧本徵询意见，以全方位呈现这位一代武打巨星的传奇一生。
