張嘉樂是一個都市現代女性，她擺脫了對男性的依賴，但是她追求的仍是男性的愛情。張嘉樂幻想男友Edward會和他的妻子離婚後與她結婚，但是Edward只是拖延她。張嘉樂與雍容華貴的盛文月成了好友，在一晚宴中，嘉樂認識了Edgar。嘉樂放棄了Edward，但是Edgar的舊女友卻出現。灰心之餘，嘉樂努力工作，完全不再依賴男人。但Edgar發現他愛的是嘉樂。獨立的嘉樂，她需不需要Edgar呢?

The story begins with a lie, or a fantasy. Carole loves Edward. She believes he would one day divorce his wife and marry her. One day, Mandy moves into the neighbourhood. Carole adores her independent. As time goes by, they become close friends. One evening, Carole meets Edger in a restaurant. Carole is in love with Edgar. However, Edgar's former girlfriend suddenly comes back. Carole chooses to leave the relationship. She has only one choice - to be independent. She finally manages to find a job and works hard. Edgar begins to realize he needs Carole badly. This time Carole can stand up in her own right. A new Carole does not have to tell lies and they open up a new chapter in life.
