Following the bloody aftermath of a heist, three robbers are double-crossed by a new accomplice, who is then tracked down amid escalation carnage and spectacular car chases. An overlooked crime thriller from the director of Battle Royale, The Triple Cross is littered with homage to crime classics, from the outlaw lovers of Godard's A Bout de Souffle to the male lead sporting a nose plaster in recognition of Jack Nicholson's Chinatown. It also anticipates many of the themes and attitudes of post-Tarantino crime cinema with remarkable prescience.
