September 2, 2001 Best of the Best
She is just so funky and original. She is unlike any other artist! You absolutely will be hard-pressed to be able to compare her to another artist in terms of vocal styles, songs and lyrics. She is HOT and I love the way she pronounces Japanese words that have "R"-sounds! This CD is defintiely worth the cash! It has 2 CDs: one looong music CD that you will not get tired of and another CD with VCDs on it. If you want to find another Japanese artist to fall in love with, then look no further. She is a dimaond in the rough thatis already sparkling. She is so talented!!! ~Nadia Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
September 2, 2001 What a SMASH HIT!
Shiina Ringo has quickly become one of my favourite artists--she is so pure and so natural...she does not follow the popular trends in Japan, instead she CREATES them. She is bold and innovative, and a HOT artist. When I got this Single, I was awestruck at track 1: Mayonaka ha Junketsu--beatifully orchestrated! There are so many well balanced sounds, so many instruments...is it Jazz or is it Classical? Neither--it is Shiina's style blazing through again and setting a new trend! This is so good...I am so excited to see what she does next. The other 2 tracks are real bonuses to her fans. ~Nadia Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
September 2, 2001 Un.....Uh?
This is the lowest mark I have ever given a CD, but for good reason--it is not very appealing on any level. This CD has very few nice qualities about it, the music is dull and kind of dumb....the Cd lingers on and on, and you think: "Is it almost over?". The songs are just not memorable at all. I tried to like this CD, really I did, but I did not have the benefit of reading any reviews on this album before I purchased it. Oh well, live and learn. I am still going to give Rie a chance, because I think she does possess some talent, but this is just not one CD that you need to own if you don't have much money to spend. Save your cash for another album. ~Nadia Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
September 2, 2001 A Delicious CD!
Mai is a very talented, young woman. I am very impressed that she wrote the lyrics to her own music because I find them very beautiful. There is a definite rhythm to her lyrics as well as many meanings....her voice conveys emotion and power. This is a great CD to have, especially if you like R&B-style music like Hiakru's. Though their styles are very similar, these artists are very different. I can't wait to see more of Mai in the future. She became one of my favourites with this CD. ~Nadia Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
September 2, 2001 In Synch with herself!
Olivia is a force to be reckoned with--this album proves it! First she was stuck in a poppy band called D&D, which was a cute band of 3 girls. It was very clean, innocent "poppy" music. I immediately noticed Olivia's STRONG voice. I love all sorts of Japanese artists, but if I were to tell someone who had THE BEST VOICE, it is Olivia. Just TRY singing like her, and you will hurt your throat or lose breath before you can complete a note. This album shows many of her different sides, and most of all, explores many different possibilities with her voice. The first time I heard "Dear Angel", I actually got tingles!! How can she hold a note for so long? It is beyong me. Anyhow, this is an artist to keep our eye on. She has the ability to become a pop diva. We need to advertise her more. ~Nadia Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
September 2, 2001 A Range of Styles!
This is a very good album. I fear that the word "good" does not truly convey my thoughts, though. First of all, let me say that she is a VERY talented vocalist--no doubt about it, she is talented. There are some really awesome tunes on this CD, but I do have to admit that it took me a while to "love" this CD. If you are looking for soemthing a little different in J-music, this is an album to put into your collection. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

September 2, 2001 Sweet ParadoxIf you like classic rock music, and sometimes get a little tired of pop music, then try Nanase on for size! She is GREAT! She has a great, tough voice that can turn gentle in a second. I have all of her albums, and this is her BEST album, in my opinion. Each song after the next has a new style that is addicting. This is a perfect CD! She brought out the rocker in me again. ~Nadia Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
September 2, 2001 THE BEST!
This is absolutely the best album ever released for Namie. Powerful chart-topping music--all the songs are inspirational and motivational. If you are new to Namie, this is the album to begin with!!! If you don't love this album, then you won't like anything else released from her. It is very rare, in my experience, to find an album where you love each and every song and can never tire of the CD--this is by far the best album I own!! The only people that would not like this album are people that don't like techno, fast-paced, dance music. There are a few slower songs, but not many. It is rare for me to give a 10, but this album is 10+++ Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)

September 2, 2001 JPOP DivaA very different album than her first album, but I immediately loved it. I always embrace an artist that challenges themselves to something new, and this album is very fast-paced for the most part. It is a very FUNKY album! ~Nadia Did you find this review helpful? September 2, 2001 A Genius being Reborn! Why did this album get so much slack? Everyone loved Namie in her younger POP days, but when this album came out, everyone was expecting POP again--to their surprise, there was a lot of variety on this album, and many people did not like that. That is wrong!!! We should acknowledge her and praise her as an artist: it takes a lot of courage to experiment with different styles and to challenege yourself as an artist. This is a great album with a lot more of an R&B sound to it. I was very surprised to see Namie make a change, but I really loved it!! I had to listen to it a couple times to really love it, but now I constantly listen to it. There are a couple songs that are kind of boring, but all in all, I love this CD. Any Namie fan should have this CD. ~Nadia Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
September 2, 2001 Breaking Into a New Style!!
Namie has always been one of my favourite artists...but I always felt like she was holding back a little...with the recent pop princesses, like Ayumi and Hikaru, coming onto the Japanese scene, Namie had to compete and become more diverse as an artist. The Genius 2000 album is a good example of her experimenting with different music style and vocal styles, and this album is great because we can see her continiung on. There are some really great tunes on this album, and a few that you will either like or hate, but all in all, it is a CD to get! I love this album! But I think we will see her next album as her best! ~Nadia Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Love Appear (Japan Version)
August 31, 2001 A Winner Appears! If you really get hyped up over fast-paced dance music that have awesome lyrics, then this is THE CD to get. This CD is powerful and really gets you motivated--from the first track to the last one, this is a great CD. Here are reasons why you should get this CD: 1. Comes with 2 discs; 2. Sexy cover pic of Ayu; 3. 2nd disc you can put in your computer for some "goodies"; 4. Well-worth the money! I have played this CD in front of people that don't listen to Japanese music and even they loved it! Go on--order it!!! ~Nadia Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
August 31, 2001 Never Ever Going to Stop!
This woman is so talented and beautiful. I feel that this song truly shows her style, and that is a "pop/rock" star. This song is one of my favourites because there are 2 extremes to this song: 1.slow and beautiful and 2.fast and strong. Her vocals are strong and stressed perfectly in the fast parts and soft and gentle in the slow parts. The lyrics are beautiful. I think Ayu has found her niche with combining pop and rock. she pulls it off beautifully. Get this song! ~Nadia Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
