March 30, 2001 The Best...
This is, in my opinion, the definitive album for fans of solid jpop and especially for fans of Globe. This combines their most loved and classic tunes from the golden year in jpop, 1997. "Can't Stop Fallin In Love" I would say is definatly the highlight song of the album [and my favourite j-pop song EVER]. Keiko's voice is beautiful as ever and Marc's vocals are as strange as they are now. [TK of course shows his full potential in this album as opposed to his newer music]. If you haven't heard this album and call yourself a fan of Globe, get it and get with it. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
MAO DENDA REMIXES 1 (Japan Ver.)
March 30, 2001 Wonderful...It's rare when a talented artist releases a solid, entertaining remix album. Usually I had the bias take on remix albums that only the unpopular and less talented singers release them as a means of grabbing a bigger audience. I now reliezed that this is not always the case. Denda Mao has done it again with this excellent album of dancable mixes. In many ways, the songs actually can compare with the old versions.. even beyond in a few tracks. If you're looking for a great dance number to impress your friends, you'll surely find it on this disc. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Distance (Japan version)
March 30, 2001 Is it just me......Or are Hikki fans completly bias with their opinions? When I checked on this page LAST WEEK when the CD was still up for pre-order there was already about 15 people who wrote that "they can't wait for this album" and "hope it sells a lot." How can you give an artists' album that you've never heard, a 10 just because you're a fan? That's absurd! Personally I'm a huge fan of Hikki. however to tell the truth this release wasn't very impressive. I have each and every one of her singles which I admit are amazingly done. However...I felt that's what this album was...a compilation of her full singles. 50% of all the songs on the disc are from her singles which I admit is a good thing for new commer fans or for those who haven't heard her at all... but for long time fans I don't see where the interest lies. The non-single songs spanning the disc are in no way up to par with her individual releases and aren't very "catchy" or that intresting. Hikki's musical style of course hasn't changed very much but some might consider a good thing. But I admit that after a 2 year wait this album is somewhat disappointing. So before you give her a 10 just because "the album is great" or "Hikki is the best" why don't you think twice and actually LISTEN to the music. it's somewhat disrespectful to the artist not to give an actual educated opinion. I gave "Distance" a 5 because the songs do reflect skill, but so many of them are played out single songs. Sigh... Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Eternal Voice
March 25, 2001 Incredible albumFor the longest time I've been hearing that Utada Hikaru is the definitive artist in Japan for R&B and somehow that didn't strike me as completly true before and especially after I heard this incredible album. From the 1st to final track nothing but true R&B with a flair can be found: from dance jams to slow ballads. Each track just seems to get better than the last even for those who have all of her hit singles included in this release. Strange enough, each time I listen to this CD, I never find myself skipping over a single track which is somewhat rare for a picky girl like me. As for Ms. Mao's voice, her soul is as smooth as butter and as lovely as singers come. Not only can she sing high, striking notes, but she manages to also voice her words low and beautiful without letting her tone become the least bit "lamby." Denda Mao's singing talents, gorgeous looks and groovy R&B beats combine to make this a truely unforgettable album. Pure ear candy. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
March 19, 2001 Wonderful!
For a long time.. I was under the impression that aiko was actually a rock singer ^^;; [Like Aikawa Nanase] I had only seen pictures of her concerts and interviews: not actually heard her music. Just recently I ordered a burned CD with a mixture of jpop mpgs and amoung them were aiko's "Ashita." Immediantly I recognized the tune from one of Kyoko's singles... and to my susprise I fell in love with aiko! Her music is surprisingly fresh and generally enjoyable to listen to. Pure, clean pop! Sign Of Love/Miracle (Single) (Japan Ver.)
(1)Our Price: US$13.99List: US$19.99Save: US$6.00 (30%)March 8, 2001 Aiya!I admit I'm not the biggest fan of SES...for a while I actually didn't like them. But after hearing their latest single at the time [Sign of Love], I became an instant fan! This is a wonderful, catchy pop/R&B song that I gurantee will be stuck in your head after just a few plays. Though the music doesn't bring out their full vocal potential compared to their most recent songs, the group still harmonizes and puts on a fantastic performance VERY well. If you're a big SPEED, DIVINE or EARTH fan and are looking for more girl groups to please your ears [or are still sobbing over SPEED's break-up], SES's "Sign of Love" is the best place to start. come again (japan Ver.)
March 8, 2001 ^.^Yet again M-Flo releases another fantastic single. I've been a huge fan of them since I saw them live a while back and "Come Again" as quickly become one of my favourite new release songs. Verbal once again astounds listeners with his jammin rap talents while Lisa cools is down with her beautiful, smooth voice. My only complaint about the single is that for some reasons the audio quality on my copy isn't as good as I think it should be [or maybe it's just my head phones.] Lisa's voice is constantly being drowned out by the base...but of course this is a small, minor minus for such a great song. For fans of quality R&B/rap I highly HIGHLY recommend this single. Sugoi! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
March 8, 2001 Wonderful ^^
I bought this album on mini disc while visiting some friends in Japan and I'm definatly not regretting it. Not only does it include all of my favourite Ayu songs but the album songs are also catchy, original and pure ear candy. "Teddy Bear" is such a pretty song...one of my favourites. If you like Ayu's newer style [such as Maria, evolution] this is a great album to start with. This is a MUST for any fans of Ayu and especially for fans of j-pop who haven't heard her yet. March 8, 2001 Gorgeous...
I first heard Sakamoto Miu when I purchased the single "Finally" by rap group sensation "Sukeboo King" featuring none other than the angel herself. At the time I had no idea what type of singers she was and assumed she would be another R&B/pop singer. But when I listened to it I was greatly surprised: classical music began to play and a gorgeous, opera-like voice sang. I immediantly rushed to buy another single. "Tetsudouin" is a beautiful, slow melody that makes you feel surpsingly like appreciating the workers of the railroad. [Yes, I know it's from a soundtrack.] The chambers mix only varies slightly from the original mix which is a good thing considering the song is PERFECT in my eyes and should be left as is...and last is the karaoke mix which I doubt many will attempt to sing at parties ^^ All in all...this is a WONDERFUL, tear must have single.
