To me, the Hero initial earrings are so much nicer, I think, mainly because the letters were in Chinese/Japanese...why use romanized letters...they aren`t that aestetically pleasing to look at! Koda Kumi Live Tour 2008 -Kingdom- Shopping Bag
April 15, 2009 Cool Kuu, cheap bagI put off buying this for a long time, even though I love Kuu and Kingdom and dearly wanted something I could carry around to show the world I`m a fan...ha ha...well it was hard to tell from the picture whether this was actually a bag worth having. Now it`s here and it`s pretty cool. It`s big but it was folded so that the package was small and arrived without delays of any kind, something I truly appreciate! Now it`s not to carry heavy stuff in, for it`s just PVC and has only got to small handles that are not very strong - so be warned, you`re not buying something you can load with books etc. First I was a little disappointed it was made out of plastic (it could just as well have been called "Koda Kumi Kingdom Plactic Bag,"lol) but it`s practical I guess, it doesn`t get wet. Also the Koda print is pretty and large. I like it a lot but I think it was a little too expensive considering it`s not very durable. What about making a real bag available for sale? April 3, 2009 Funny movieI enjoyed this movie, I laughed many times, although I got a little tired with Charlene after an hour or so...and I`m her biggest fan, ha ha! Maybe it`s just Yoyo who is, to put it mildly, a little too much at times, and I certainly wouldn`t like to have to live in her house like Cheung has to...! I think Ekin Cheng is a good actor. He`s got good comedic timing and reacts well to the things his co-actors say and do. He also knows how to be serious, which made this movie more meaningful.
The English translation is horrible! Also it`s quite a challenge to hear Mandarin and Cantonese spoken at the same time, with subtitles in the middle! But it`s an enjoyable movie all the same. I figured the chain would be too short for me, but it`s just the right length with the cross hanging just in line with the neck of your sweather (or whatever you`re wearing!). It`s shiny and beautiful, just perfect. But best of all, it`s got the look of something you couldn`t just buy anywhere on a whim. It`s as if it`s got a personality of its own. I received this CD/DVD yesterday and it is great! On the web site, it looks like an ordinary DVD case, but it`s actually a spiral notebook full of nice pictures of Kenny and, of course, including two discs. Nice! Only it is rather hard to get the discs out of their envelopes without getting fingerprints on them. If you plan to play them a lot, you might want to store them in seperate cases. The CD itself contains, well, Kenny Kwan essential songs. The songs are all beautiful. They`re all ballads, but they are varied and exciting, and the videos have an elegant, smooth quality that`s reminiscent of Faye Wong`s artful videos. It`s easy to see and hear that a lot of work has gone into this project. Kenny seems to be very serious about his music and eager to give his fans the best. They have great voices, good songs and are warm and including on stage. To me, that is having stage presence. But this concert is kind of informal. It`s more of a meet-and-greet than a set song-and-dance routine. And the artists talk to the audience, and to eachother, a lot. To me, that was fun and great entertainment, but it may not be to everyone`s taste. I think one ought to watch the show BEFORE one listens to the CDs. Then it`ll make a lot more sense. Steven, for example, seemed nervous at first. It was so fun to see how he gradually got into it, but if I`d only listened to the CD I think I would find his performance a little lacking. Twins are always great and I found Kenny very endearing and entertaining, but he`s so visual an artist, you`d have to see him live or on his MVs to really "get" him. As for Isabella, I was not impressed. To me, she is a model/actress, not a singer. But I`m sure there are people who like her. All in all, a great buy. And a nice poster inside the CD! they filmed the artists and dancers from a distance and everything was just a blur! It got better (or I got used to it!) but PLEASE can anyone tell me whether the DVD has better picture quality? It`s that good!No problem with this DVD, except one of the discs had fallen out of its case during transport so the second disc had scratches...but guys, if you`re reluctant to buy this because you think that the picture and sound quality might be bad because it`s region 3, just don`t worry, OK? The picture and sound is really good and clear. If you have a region 3 DVD then GO FOR IT, don`t spend extra money a different version. The concert itself is fantastic! I have rarely seen anyone give their all on a stage the way DBSK does, and it makes me think, no wonder these guys are super-popular. Yes, they are good-looking, but they could never pull off a show like this if they weren`t talented singers, dancers and entertainers as well. Most of all it`s impressive and touching to see how they obviously can`t give enough of themselves to their fans. They go all the way, never taking the easy way out. So many artists have egos as big as their paychecks but these boys are real, and for that, we love them. So buy, buy, buy. (Hey Izzy, I agree with you on the costume thing. March 6, 2009 Wish I`d been thereFirst of all, thank you for your review Cloud. I have much of the same feelings about Koda. Her voice is fantastic (she actually performed more than half of Candlelight on her back on stage, and that is NOT an easy song to sing!) and I loved the stage, the lights, the costumes, the movie clips and the story about the lost
key but...to me, sometimes she goes too far and it becomes awkward. To me, the duet with Tohoshinki was the absolute highlight of this show. Koda and the boys sing and dance so well together and, at times like that, when everything is about the singing and the dancing and the giving and taking of the artist and the audience, it is easy to see that this girl is one of the world`s best entertainers! Oh, yeah, Lost Angel was definitely a duet but I believe it can only be found on single and on the Kingdom album. February 28, 2009 Kuu come back!!!I agree with you Sakura-chan. This album is not as good as Kingdom which was a killer release, SO GREAT!!! Trick hardly has one memorable song. I was very surprised when I heard Taboo, I`d thought it was better, there`s been so much fuss about it. I guess it proves that no matter how a singer acts in her videos it doesn`t secure her or him a musical success, just a bit of extra attention. I don`t think Trick`s gonna outlast other Koda Kumi albums. It`s just too similar to what other artists are doing, especially Britney Spears who is having a similar album out now. It also has a Madonna feel and personally I don`t like her. It all seems rushed. There isn`t anything on this album that even comes close to matching super songs like Get up and move!, Chase, Hot Stuff, Wind, Anytime, you name`em. I ended up giving my copy away, but, that said, I look forward to the next album from Kuu. When she`s on form noone comes close to her. Too bad (I feel) she isn`t on form here! It seems, at times to have no musicality in it whatsoever. It`s extremely flat and unexpressive. If she`d been speaking the lyrics it would probably have made more sense. The only exception is the title track which is dark, somber and magnificent, with a beat all its own, which is not dependent on a singer`s style. I love that song and has bought the maxi single because I know I`ll always enjoy that track! The rest of the songs, well, they`re okay, but not outstanding. The lyrics are quite imaginative at times, but sometimes they get simple and silly. The intentions behind this album appear to have been the best. Too bad it didn`t work out. I love all the songs and the MVs. There is so much great music here! The songs are all very different from eachother but it does not get confusing, for Kuu puts so much energy and effort into each track and clearly enjoy playing all these different roles. My favourite track is Get Up and Move but they`re all stunning. I can`t wait to see the concert tour DVD and I wish Koda all the best!!! February 17, 2009 OMGI guess I have to admit I`ve never really got Koda Kumi and have been but a casual listener with a few favourite songs, but now I`ve finally got around to buy Kingdom and Black Cherry and THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ALBUMS. I love all the extra stuff on Kingdom, too. The MVs are spectacular and the June 20 2007 concert was fantastic. Kuu`s voice expresses so much and is therefore always interesting to listen to. And her videos, I think, project strong girls and women. Not many female stars that I know of can be feminine and strong at the same time. Kuu-chan, THANK YOU!!! December 17, 2008 This is what Faye should be doing now!
I recently "rediscovered" this CD with the wonderful Faye singing Teresa Teng`s songs, and now I cannot stop playing it. The combination of the melodic songs and Faye`s cool sharp delivery makes for intriguing listening, and although I love Teresa I must admit that I think Faye`s versions are best! The new arrangements are crisper and clearer than the old ones, less sentimental, more to the point. These songs sounds like hits of today! If only...could Faye Wong take over where Teresa sadly left us and produce quality pop like this in the years to come? It may not happen, but here`s to hoping. Did you find this review helpful? Because I think this concert, and this DVD, is so amazing, I want everyone to watch it and Faye to have even more fans! Unbelievably enough she sings over thirty songs without being off - key for one single moment. In fact, I think she sounds even better than she does on record! At times she looks so small and fragile all alone on that huge stage. I can hardly believe how she keeps thousands of people spellbound like she does throughout the entire show! I am also happy this is NOT a karaoke DVD. So many DVDs are, but I want to hear Faye`s voice (not my own, although it`s impossible not to sing along!) Only wish she`d make new music soon.
