October 13, 2006 CuteA good movie to watch with the missus.
I found the story interesting, but a little too slow moving (maybe cos i'm a guy).
I liked Andy's double role in this film. His acting was brill. Charlene was alright, but seemed a little too young to be Andy's wife ( her cute/sweet voice totally gives it away). Charlie's crying and dying scenes were very touching.

October 13, 2006 Quite good....but not perfectWatched this on a date: so was rather memorable :p.
Animation is great: of course...it's Ghibli! The story, however, was kinda average. It didn't really excite me much. But at least it was really pretty to look at.
I found the English voice dubbing really bad. Especially the main female, who sounded really old for her age. I watched the cantonese & japanese versions later and they were perfect.

October 13, 2006 a GOOD Edison Chen movie?!!!Edison Chen totally blew me away in this movie! Didn't really expect much from him (after watching his previous roles), but this movie proved me wrong. His character was acted out so well and he fits the role like a glove. Sam Lee was ok too. But since i've always pictured him as a funny guy, it took some time to get used to watching him in a serious role. The story is very good: eyes glued onto the tv screen the whole time. October 9, 2006 ISWAK is great!!!Judging from the reviews here, the majority of viewers are girls. However, I'm a boy, and I loved this!!! This is also my first Taiwanese drama and it has pulled my interest to watch many more!
The story-line is indeed very anime-ish with lots of funny and light-hearted moments: afterall it is based after a manga comic. The characters grow on you very easily. Joe Cheng was particularly good: does anyone else find his appearance resemble Edison Chen ?
The soundtrack stood-out alot too. The music was simply amazing and fitted the mood of the drama. I purchased the soundtrack after watching this :p!

Anyway, the beginning of the movie reminded me alot of Ring: spook y girl with long hair and mysterious phone calls. However, things take a big turn when our heroine enters a new world and goes on an adventure to get outta there. The story was quite good, although i thought that it'd be a shock-fest all the way thru...it was not, as the second part was less scary. So if u're looking for something to spook yourself with..then you're better off looking elsewhere.
I liked the anti-abortion message near the end of the movie. The way it was put across is very touching and almost made me shed a tear.

October 5, 2006 Saddening but amazing!Watched this after watching the entire tv series. The animation is really good and is way more realistic in comparison to the original tv series.
The soundtrack is simply superb! It really gets the right atmosphere. The ending is really saddening.

Very different from other ghibli titles in that more violence is depicted: from sliced limbs to chopped-off heads :p The story is simply amazing. Quite possibly the best ghibli film. Picked this up to complete my Ghibli collection. What an adventure! This movie really made my day!
Liked the characters alot and the cantonese dub is decent (but the main female sounded a little half asleep).
My only complaint is the quality of the animation which is not as good as the other Ghibli movies: afterall, this IS one of the latest ghibli titles. Other than that, the story is not to be missed!Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

The animation has improved vastly since the original and special moves look even cooler than before. The gold saints play a big part in this series. Each episode will have you on the edge of your seat as Conan unveils the truth of each crime. The cases spand either 1 or 2 episodes: short but sweet when compared to Kindaichi.
Despite the cute character designs, this anime is actually quite bloody and is not recommended for very young children.
The cantonese dubbing is top-class. Shame that only around 50 episodes have been translated, whereas the japanese version have already reached 400 episodes!!!

Eason's mandarin albums tend to be not as heavily promoted and therefore not as recognised as his cantonese albums: which is a shame because his mando albums are also really great....especially this one. October 5, 2006 Dragongirl's debut!
I picked up this album after hearing track 5 on tv: i was instantly hooked by the song's tune and the singer's sweet voice. After listening to the whole album i must say that i am very pleased with my purchase and that this is a very good debut album indeed.
What surprised me the most is that all the songs were composed by Japanese, Korean & Western composers rather than the chinese: not a bad thing....just different.
Heard her singing track 5 live on JSG, but live singing skills were really poor.

Vivi and...
October 5, 2006 Quite goodThis album is well worth a listen. However, a few of the better tracks are just covers of English versions (eg.- Tracks 1 and 4).
The album's strength is that an array of good composers have worked on it e.g. Jay Chou, Leehom and CaoGe. The three songs composed by each of the above are really good.

Fight scenes are very good and most of them are really bloody: make sure the kids r in bed ;P
The ending was alright, but didn't like it when Donnie's character was caught off guard....
