August 22, 2007 One good storyThe Taiwan 's version is more fast paced and funnier . The music is also a good mix of popular English and Chinese songs. But I also enjoy this Japanese version. It lets us see what the original story is about. I enjoyed the music too, especially the classical music.
Of all the characters in the two series, I like Jerry Yan the best, especially when he had funny hair and obnoxious behavior. Not to say I don't like any other characters. The added character of the boss lady in the shop where the 2 girls work is a brilliant move. I really like her line of the story and how she teaches the girls about men. The parents in the Taiwan version are funnier than the Japanese ones.
I also own a Japanse animated version. It has wonderful classical music and brillant animation. I like it a lot too.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

It was a condensed version (50 chapters condensed into 34) and I thought it was too long then . May be something was missing in the condensed version but I could not get into the story real well except I felt sorry for the guy portrayed by So Ji Sub. He was a fun and sad guy. That is the only interesting part of the story for me. I recently tried to see this series again because So Ji Sub was like a complete different person in "Something happened in Bali" . I like him in this series better but this glass slipper story is not comparble to the Bali story. This story is too traditional and slow. I cannot fall in love with this story. April 7, 2007 A worthy effortI thought this might be a gory bloody mess and I was afraid to watch it. But, I find it actually a worthy movie to see because it has more depth that most "scary " movie. The only thing I did not like was the main cop was portrayed as a cold , unsympathtic fellow. I like Shu Qi and it is one of the main reason I saw this film. Boy, was I surprised. By looking at the Chinese title of this movie, I wondered if it was a romantic comdey or love story. Well, it definitely was not something I would usually buy. However, by keeping an open mind, I was able to see a different kind of Korean movie. No more light hearted story. This movie portrays a lot of painful emotion and the unfairness of life. It takes a different approach from the usual gun and knife club style. Is this a movie I want to see again and again? No! February 23, 2007 The many faces of Cho In SungCho In Sung is one of my favorite Korean Actors. First he looks hot but when you get past that, he actually is a real good actor. I saw him first in "Something happened in Bali" . Who can forget his arrogance and his desperate love for the girl? Then I saw him in "Shoot for the stars". The story of an illiterate. He played the role wonderfully. This story is not as gripping as the other two but again, Cho In Sung shines (Kudo to the other actors too because every one is good). Storywise, this show is not as haunting as Bali and not as inspiring as Star but it is enough of a love story. Definitely a chick flick. The quality of the disc and the English subtile are great. Only one disc has minor picture quality problem for me . The English subtitle is good but who is the smart person who took away the beautiful song at the end of some episodes. These are the English songs with Chinese subtiles . Such as when Jerry was dancing to "When you are in love with a beautiful woman", the song was taken away and you just see Jerry dance. The acting is certainly is good but I got kind of confused by the story line, esp who sent the letters? The mail man searching in the room? And why did the healthy lookin girl die too? The love story of the healthy looking girl with Cha is better than the sickly looking girl. There is more turmil there because it seems forbidden. But , I don't think this is a movie one can watch too often because it is depressing.
The best part of this DVD is actually the extra. I like the interviews . It gives the fans a chance to see the stars talking as a real person . I like Cha's humor and talking Chinese, and both stars expressed concerns for everybody 's health. The song that was played in the video is very good too.Did you find this review helpful? Well, I did, sort of. It turns out to be a quirky romantic story that turns a bit somber which also gives it a little depth. I like some of the fantasy episodes esp the part of burying someone alive. The writer definitely has a bit of sense of humor. I like Chae Tae Hyun a lot and he did a fine job here but overall , I still think the movie is overrated . It is more like a "coming of age " movie.Kind of like "an officer and a gentleman" because it tells about the friendship of these young guys and how they found the diretctions in their lives. They found courage and relaized that they were not as useless as they thought of themselves. The most touching part was when KT went home and found out his mom still loved him. I recommend this film.
