May 21, 2009 A Pretty Poster! 9.5/10To SarangAsianMusic & other TVXQ fans: I bought this edition of the poster after I got the other poster free with Dong Bang Shin Ki-The Secret Code, Version C (Hong Kong edition). Comparing the two almost identical posters, this one is thicker with superior color qualities. (It's thicker than Hyde's free poster, but not as thick as Exile's free poster with the same quality of paper.) I give this a 9.5/10 because I think that there should have been at least an extra margin of 2.0 cm on the left hand side for a better balance of the overall picture. Still, I think it's worth it if you like TVXQ! :) Besides, Big Band's poster is free with this purchase. The paper quality is far superior and Big Band looks very energetic. I want to support Vanness Wu even though I think he was lacking in singing skills in his earlier album with Kangta. I haven't heard him sing for a while, but I remember him having a good voice. May 19, 2009 Excellent! 9.5/10I just watched this event on DVD last night. I understand neither Korean nor Japanese, so please forgive me for not giving a better and more accurate review! Many of my top favorite groups are in this event. I'm not sure if I had a glimpse of Wheesung who might be in the audience or Tei who was not present. Anyway, I recommend watching this DVD because of TVXQ, Moon Hee Jun, Rain, Sg Wannabe each having performances of their own and others like the sexy & pretty Lee Hyo Ri, energetic Big Band, Wonder Girls, etc. Only one member of Brown Eyes showed up to receive the duo's music award and Epik High has a very brief performance. The second disks in this package has the detail performances of TVXQ and especially Rain. I only give this package a 9.5/10 for not having English subtitles and the stage setting and lighting could have been better for Rain. Some are off shore performances. Shin Seung Hun and others did some of the presentations. The actor who gave the award to TVXQ is well known and he is really a great actor, but I don't know his name.
TVXQ fan's should all get this DVD because they are excellent in their presentations of Mirotics which they won the album award (I think) and other tracks. Max cried at the defying moment of getting the award and was consoled by other members of TVXQ and I just love them even more, lol! They look absolutely great and as always giving their best on stage. They lost one of the most important music awards to Big Band because the track by Big Band is really great, slightly better than Mirotics in my opinion. It's an absolutely beautiful ballad with seductive music and lyrics. The music is different. It just grows on me like...Ah, I don't know the words...lol! It has a combination of orchestra, synthetic keyboards, acoustics and electrical guitars, and drums arrangements in a soothing and engaging melody. It's absolutely attractive! I'm seduced by the Latin flavor acoustic guitar's melody, Hyde's compassionate and fantastic vocals. His gift as a fantastic musician and singer is reaffirmed here. DO NOT MISS THIS CD! It's a pleasant surprise because I only expected 3 or 4 tracks to be my favorites, instead I have 7. I think that I'm slowly becoming Kyo and Dir en Grey's fan. The music in this CD is less dark than I had expected. My favorites tracks are their more 'mellow' ones. If 'music is frozen art', then Kyo's scream is analogues to Edvard Munch's 'The Scream' and Hide's is similar to Willem de Kooning's. I'm happy that Dir en Grey let me experience it! My slight complaint is the color on the group photo is kind of dark and Hero's face doesn't have a better exposure. They all look great in their individual photos. While I think Xiah and Hero have the best shots with Xiah's look of confidence and the 'Hero look', Max looks relaxed and confident, U-Know has the weakest post but still manage to look good, and the one that really salvaged my last disappointment from the It's Stylist book is Micky's with his at ease but looks great post.

I got the 'in Seoul' set and was very pleased with it. TVXQ looks absolutely wonderful and attractive. The solution to your problem as having too many posters from one band, and really my own wish is that there will be a BIG poster of the photograph shown here without all the captions. May 10, 2009 Overpriced!This item posts a dilemma for me because I love TVXQ and I want to support them. However, I suggest that you spend your money getting their other stuffs because this card case is not worth it. The picture on the front and back is really cute, but the quality and made are not good. There are only eight single pockets that hold business size cards. The whole card case is warped. The package comes with a thin bonus booklet of which the first 6 pages contain really nice photos of TVXQ backstage. To me, the bonus booklet is an after-thought because it could have easily filled up the many blank pages in the main photo book.
Personally, I think the design, layout and choice of photographs leave a lot of room for improvements. I also think that the design of the thin strip of black, white, light and dark gray colors on the edges to be a total distraction. I got so annoyed that I cut them off from the bonus booklet with a cutter.
For TVXQ's next book, I wish the nice poster photo in black suits will be included, not just on the front cover. A book with better pictures and design is what fans are waiting for! TVXQ deserves the best!Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

May 4, 2009 Latest Addiction: Alone En La Vida!I have the Kiss album for a while, and for some reason I almost let Alone En La Vida slipped out of my hand as one of my all time favorites. I reviewed most of their albums lately and listened to this track. I couldn't resist looking up the translation from the internet and here's the beginning of the track:
'A faded fantasy carved footprint growing misty
A faraway journey and then a gust of wind...'
I gathered that Ken composed or wrote the lyrics which has deep emotions. The music is totally reflective of the lyrics which is sad and nostalgic. Hyde's passionate vocals, the excellent guitars and drums accompaniments along with its catchy melody makes this my latest addiction and will remain as one of my all time favorites. Can't tell you how happy I'm to be L'Arc~en~Ciel's fan because they are absolutely among the best in the world! Get this album!

I've been wanting and waiting for the longest time for Moon Myung Jin's new album. To me, he has one of the most beautiful voices in the world. I know what I'm saying here will have definitely disagreement and I don't really care. Whenever I think of the most beautiful voice in the world, Jose Carreras of Spain carries that title. But I only have one CD by him because I don't really like classical or operatic singing except for the few famous arias. I know I'm comparing apple to orange, but Moon Myung Jin is right up there with his soulful r&b ballads. I really wish his record company will produce a new album for him. A beautiful voice from a fantastic singer is not to be side tracked for too long.
Please don't judge Moon Myung Jin from the r&b track by him and Kim Bum Soo from You Tube because the track just doesn't fit them at all. I just watched it last night and keep my review really short because the previous review has given a best review with vivid descriptions. My favorite part of the concert is the second half starting with The Silver Shining which is one of my favorite rock ballads. But my favorite is the one that follows, 花葬 in which Hyde sings his best with his masculine, attractive and mesmerizing vocals. The beats and melody are just wonderful even though Hyde has a few notes that are slightly off. Then there is Pieces and a few other ones that are my favorites. Hyde has a stage presence that reminds me of Mick Jaeger(?) of The Rolling Stones. I don't know if that was due to the complexities of the first track, get out from the shell which is absolutely one of my most favorite tracks by L'Arc~en~Ciel that he didn't get a good start. But you can tell that Hyde was not in top form in the beginning. So, a slight disappointment when I watched this DVD containing almost all the songs from the Real album which beats by a horse hair by the Awake album to be my favorite album by the band. I am really looking forward to watch L'Arc~en~Ciel's 2008 live concert via Paris DVD and it looks like a better start this time as the opening track.

I couldn't help laughing while reading SarangAsianMusic's great review on this poster:Great observations with a sense of humor, yet showing love of TVXQ. I think I might just change my mind and order this poster because it is so different! Actually, Max' hair reminds me of a dinosaur or a desert creature. It's a pity because he looks really nice in that picture. Hero's hair could be better with shorter length to show his beautiful eyes. April 24, 2009 Not BadMy new favorite is 花葬. It has nice beats and a wonderful melody. The guitar and drums accompaniments are excellent. And of course Hyde sings it beautifully. Don't miss it! My other favorite track is L'heure which is in French with a short conversation between a couple. I'm not sure if Hyde had the speaking part because it is in low tone and hard to hear, but it sounds attractive. It is an interesting track with repetitive drum beats, kind of monotonous. The Silver Shining, a slow rock ballad is my favorite too. It is mostly in English I think. The music is kind of heavy at the beginning, but picks up nicely as it progresses with the guitars and drum beats. As usual, Hyde sings with a lot of emotions and with higher notes approaching the end. I just love the guitar and drums accompaniments.
My 4 stars favorite tracks are: snow drop [ray mix], 浸食 lose control and いばらの涙. Trick is a 3 stars track for me.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

This is my first full album by L'Arc~en~Ciel after the single, My Heart Draws a Dream which is one of my favorite tracks. My other favorites are Alone En La Vida, Daybreak's Bell and 海辺 (Sea Shore?). Try this CD if you like rock music. L'Arc~en~Ciel is probably at their best with their rock compositions here and their playing of the instruments is mature and great. Omg! I'm upgrading The Black Rose to a 5 stars from a zero this minute because I think the drum beats by Yukihiro is fantastic. HahaHa! I think I might just get Ken's album next and look into other L'Arc~en~Ciel members' CD. Heart (Japan Version)
April 23, 2009 Heart & SoulThis is an interesting CD for me because I have given 4 stars rating to 7 out of the 10 tracks and the last one with 5 stars. I suppose the music in this CD just doesn't click with me with the exception of the last track. Hyde's hard rock vocal in the Promised Land doesn't sound great to me at all. The music of Singing' in The Rain which is piano jazz just doesn't mix well with Hyde's vocal either.
But the last track, あなた is absolutely great. It has an orchestral accompaniment at the beginning with great guitar and drum playing added on. I think Ken is at his best with his soulful guitar playing and I think Yukihiro is excellent as well. Most of all, Hyde is great and at one of his best rock ballads, with his soulful and heart felt rendition. His vocal range is wide, just a little shaky at the extremely 1 or 2 high notes and a little short of energy, lol! He has given it all with his feelings and emotions and L'Arc~en~Ciel has given its best as well. The music is moving. Just a fantastic track and if you are crazy like me who gets CD for just one track, then get this. The last track is worth it alone. It's just personal preference. I'm sure L'Arc~en~Ciel and Hyde's music albums have wide appeals and you will find your own favorites.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

April 23, 2009 Wonderful CDI believe this is L'Arc~en~Ciel's first album. Caress of Venus is my favorite in this CD. The music is hard to describe. The beginning part gives me a feeling of a bygone era and time is distorted, yet you feel its presence. I wish I could read the Japanese lyrics to understand its meaning. It has a lot of drums with fast beats. L'Arc~en~Ciel plays it nicely. My other favorites tracks are Flower and the Fourth Avenue Cafe. I gave 4 stars rating to Fare Well and "good-morning Hide" in which Hyde paid tribute to Hide of X-Japan. You should paid attention to the lyrics in this track which is in English.
