top compilation
| I was somewhat dissapopinted with their first "best of", FRESH (released prior to their 6th and last album 'Warp'). Not that it wasn't quality, but it was missing alot of songs that deserved to be on there. The Great Escape rectifies that immensely - serving up two big discs (15 tracks each for 30 songs!) that cover a large spectrum of JaM songs. Even better is that these were chosen by fans (1.2million of them) rather than the record label. that said, I still can't quite understand why Hitotsudake and Great Escape didnt make the vote (though i have my suspicions GE got 31st, and got the album name instead) as both are definately amongst their best. I highly recommend this to anyone with an interest in alternative music. JaM combine elements of rock, glam, punk and pop into a completely unique (and i really mean that, theres no one at all like them) fusion of sound thats both soothing, catchy and completely nuts all at the same time. |

you will get bored after a long time period
| enough with "you have to buy this! seriously" short explanation! let me tell you really quick my real story: I'm Indonesian. and I just got to know JAM like, about 3 months ago! and look what I have now. Yes, I have their 'The Great Escape' BEST album, and look at what I am now. I'm a really big FAN of JAM!! I'll tell you why you'll guaranteed not to get bored easily with this awesome album: musically speaking, we all know that MOST Jpop/Jrock have a lot of 'variety' factor, like variety in chord-using, variety in light and nice melodies, variety in rhythm and song models (i'm sorry, but in my opinion, most American rock music lack all of these varieties! ) now, for those who like varieties a lot, and upbeat-tempo music, and sometimes slow melancholic but sweet & nice music, you HAVE to buy this JAM album! every song tells different model or rhythm. every song has this 'nice' chords, like major 7th chord, or augmented or diminished chord! that's what I like about JAM! their music is just so teenage-spirit-friendly! and YOU tell me if you don't like their song 'Daydream' (CD 2, track 11). by far, most of my friends and cousins (that don't understand Japanese, of course) all say they LIKE it! and they've respected JAM music (they usually know JAM from Rurouni Kenshin theme) but, to sum up: if you like upbeat youth-friendly songs and sometimes sweet & nice slow songs, buy this album, even if you're not JAM fan or you don't know what the heck is JAM! if you like variety and richness in pop music, yet it's delightful to listen, guaranteed you'll tap your feet as you listen to the songs, buy this album! you like rich chords, nice melodies, model variety in each song? BUY this album! guaranteed, you'll get bored..........but after like such a LONG time!.... |

The best compilation on the FACE of the EARTH!!!
| not having the cd yet, juss looking at the songs this cd will be THE set of songs put on 2 cds on this earth!the JAM charecters are also very cute!! nice release after the warp tour video! get the warp tour video(get a couple tissues at the end :( ) |
