Professional Review of "Live For Today (Limited Edition)"

Variety Album: Live For Today ~ Eason Chan

11 marvellous tuneful treasures, 11 varied musical styles.

The Mandarin album "Black, White & Gray" was Eason's latest until this brand new long-awaited Cantonese release "Live For Today" came out. Eason has put on a whole lot better variety show on "Live For Today". For example, there is a song condemning warfare, a song encouraging Hong Kong to boldly go through hardship, a song describing the perfect spiritual state of singers, etc..

No true music lovers could possibly miss out this latest brilliant production from Eason.

The principal track "Ambushed" (Track#3) is a recent melodic hit, it tells the story of a man who keeps failing to reach his ex-girlfriend after their break-up. Song writer Wyman Wong has been really good at telling such love stories in songs as "So Far Away Yet So Close" (Leslie Cheung/ Wong Yiu Ming Duet), "1874" (Eason Chan Solo) and "Day & Night" (Jacky Cheung/Sandy Lam Duet). "Ambushed" is able to describe vividly and lively what we encounter daily, which should arouse much sympathy.

The image projected by the second leading track "Need No Lyrics" (Track#9) is very envisioning and inspiring. The song describes an ultimate singer who surpasses the use of well-written lyrics, and sings as the music rolls and as his heart desires. "Need No Lyrics" deserves applause.

Composed by David Tao, "Gloating Over My Misfortune" (Track#1) is the present reviewer's most favourite song on this release. It is a bit of rock flavored and with such optimistic lyrics. Hong Kong people in hardship shall be touched and motivated.

"Katrina" (Track#2) is part 2 of an English song by David Tao. Tao's song is offered in English ("I Don't Wanna Look Back On Life To See This Missed Opportunity") and in Cantonese ("Will Realise It Later Than You"). All three are full of insights. "Immature But Not Scared" (Track#5), which promotes an anti-war message, "Hi Mike" (Track#4), "Lies" (Track#6) and "Guesses & Searches in Love" (Track#8) are also worth sparing your time listening to.

"New Order" (Track#10) and "Life is a song"(Track#11) are the two re-composed songs from the previous Mandarin album "Black, White & Gray." The first is rewritten from "Last Order," while the latter is from the Cantonese version of "Brother & Sister". "OK" is the best grade one could give them, as a matter of fact, the original Mandarin ones are way better.

Recommendations: "Ambushed" (Track#3), "Need No Lyrics" (Track#9), "Gloating Over My Misfortune" (Track#1), "Katrina" (Track#2)

This album is the best! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I personally did not really start listening to Eason Chan until after I heard 'Next Year Today' and I fell instantly in love with his voice. That was when I knew I had to get the next album and so I got 'Live for Today' All of the songs were well arranged by the best lyricst. Especailly track number 3 'Ambushed and track number 8 'Rocks, Paper, Scissors' and track number 9 'forgotten lyrics' and track number 11 'Triumph in the Sky themesong' I recommend all of Eason's fans to buy it! =D

??? Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I thought this is Eason's cd but why there are some people talking about twins here???
Anyway, even thought Eason only brought out one cantonese cd this year, but he did an amazing job.
all 11 songs composed of what a perfect cd should contain. And this cd contain a different variety of music like rock, ballad, etc. Eason's cd had alway been excellent and this time he outdone himself again especially with song 3 and 9. Song # 5 is very deep, it describes the reality of this world. On the otherhand, song # 5 gave in some comic relief.
And really, we should really listen to his songs more rather than listening to those stupid rumors about him.
Recommendation:
all of the songs
