Uhm Jung-hwa's "Self Control": Double-Sided Uhm Jung Hwa Uhm Jung-hwa's "Self Control" is such a bargain that there are totally 20 musical treats on the two CDs "Self" and "Control". The pink and the first disc "Self" has instantly caught my attention and I have not been disappointed to have listened to it in the first place. All of the nine pieces on "Self" are Eurobeat dance tunes which are perfect to get the party started. It seems this Korean singer/actress is determined to present to her fans a brand new Uhm Jung-hwa on her 8th album. The favorite of the reviewer on "Self" goes to "Union of the Snake" because of the funny contrast made between the electric piano and the singer's mysterious vocal. "Love Me", with its digitally mastered effect, displays the delicacy and femininity of this talented singer. "Everything is Changed" generates a pleasant atmosphere with its bright and clear beat. The two versions of "Eternity" present two completely different favors. The original one seems to bring you to a grand hall with its orchestration and its rich and colorful arrangement. "Eternity" (Electronic Bossa mix) is a lighter and jollier version with less percussion but more musical effects. It should not be a problem for "Flying" to have flying colors on charts with its seductive tune and Uhm's sexy image. While the reviewer has given a perfect score for "Self", the ballad disc two "Control" can only get half of the credits. With the rendition of The Soul Family, "Good Bye My Love" touches our soul with its melody. "Crush" makes an impression with its background harmony while "Eros" reaches the public easily with its R & B pattern. Since Uhm Jung-hwa has planned to use "Self Control as her boarding pass to the Japanese market, the ballads on "Control" should work best for her to secure a position there. the main reason i was attracted to this album was becouse of her master piece DISCO (album). i was happy to find this album was worth the money. its a massive 2 disc album and non of that remix filler that seams to be the trend with more recent groups. i loved all of the self side its has a great euro pop sound that lets the songs slide smoothly into one another. and also you get to hear her song in almost complete english on the track in this rain. its a strong emotional track that although not as pop friendly like the rest of the album shines as just one of the many stand out tracks (intro,eternity,flying, union of the snake). the control side was strong too with songs like crush and wacko but the self side is in fact the better side. thats not too say the whole album isnt good becouse its, i just named my fave tracks :) a good album worth the money, but not for everyone i strongly recomend DISCO if your in more of a catchy pop, dance album. |

So glad that she has another album out with two cds. Have to say it's a great cd so far. I've only been listening to the second cd so don't know about the first one but it's worth the price. |

This is truly a value for money album, many great songs. Who is Uhm Jung Hwa you asked.. haha if you did her she is basically one of the few truly talented singers in the Korean music industry.. her songs doesn't sound the same all the time unlike other artists she is well balanced... yes you get the idea i just LOVE this album. Just try it out, you won't be disappointed..... trust me. |

Wow.. 2 cds in this album. You are loaded with great songs with this one. Uhm Jung Hwa is the best female singer in Korea, and her albums and performance definetly shows that she's one of the best in the music industry. The first CD is great to listen to. It has the euro, club feeling to it. So for those who are into the cool euro songs... you will like this one.. The second cd presents her traditional style in her previous albums. I love both cds very much. |
