Brilliant
Brilliant
| I am so delighted with this CD! The opening song is a great rock song and I was a teeny bit dissapointed that the entire CD wasn't in that vein AT FIRST. But after repeated listening, I have found some kind of charm in each and every song on this release. My favorite songs are 1, 9, 11 and the last one on the CD. Out of the entire disk, only song #9 could be considered slow. Most are up-tempo...which Yaida does quite well. Her voice is amazingly strong considering how high pitched it is. And she can really do great things with her vocals that leads to a tremendous range. I like that each song is different from the one before it and there is such diversity without any conflict in overall effect. As an example: "Not a Period" was recorded in Ireland using Irish musicians and instruments, but doesn't sound the least bit Gaelic. Yaida manages to make the song fit the rest of the CD despite the obvious differences it contains. For those looking for something totally off the beaten path and immensely interesting...this is a must buy CD. I'm sure she'll release an overseas version eventually...but don't wait. Truly. This CD should be enjoyed NOW. I cannot even wait until Yaida releases another complete CD (although she seems to go about 2 years betweem albums, maybe this time she'll release one NEXT year). Excellent. Very excellent. |
