Definitely not just a kids' movie!

There is a certain order to life among the children depicted in "When I Turned Nine". The bullying Black Bird rules the roost, with Yeo-Min his up and coming rival for supremacy. Among his friends, Yeo-Min is regarded as the captain and defender. One little girl in particular is captivated by Yeo-Min. But life is tough for the lad; his loving mother lost an eye in an industrial accident and now people in the town regard the woman as contagiously unlucky. Yeo-Min wishes to buy his mother a pair of sunglasses so that her milky eye will not be exposed to strangers; he devotes all his free time to a series of odd jobs to earn money for the glasses. Into this well-ordered world comes pretty Woo-Rim, whose looks and stylish clothes set her apart from her new classmates. Woo-Rim captivates some classmates and alienates other with tales of her life in America and the gifts she receives from her father who she says still lives there. Yeo-Min is smitten and, as a consequence, life among his friends his turned upside down. "When I Turned Nine" beautifully and memorably captures the profound joys and sorrows of childhood and, in its very particular small town Korean setting, manages to develop timeless and universal themes of loyalty and love that viewers of all ages everywhere will find to be powerfully moving. |

Okay, honestly I don't usually watch these little kid movies. I think that they will be kind of boring. But somehow I ended watching this one. I'm glad that I actually saw this movie because it was really good movie. This movie had everything. There was romance, comedy, and a great story. I thought I wouldn't like the comedy they would do but it was good. I there I would not like these little kids chemistry but they did it well. The story had a direction, it was leading and building up to something, and I'm not going to tell you because it will spoil the movie. You got to see "when I turned nine"! |

THE BOY WHEN WE CALL " KOOOOOL "
THE BOY WHEN WE CALL " KOOOOOL "

Not same as most boys wearing expensive NAME BRAND clothing, chat on cell phone and computer all day long.. and they mean "KOOOL" In this film after finished school he spend the rest of time to do any job making money to buy a pair of sunglass for his "popeye" mom...and after his mom found out ,what happaned to him?? Movie's Director should cut all sence when the teacher so VIOLENT ,HITTING his boy in class room,it over-acting and Unacceptable behavior of teacher with student. It realy disapoint me because I CAN NOT let my Kids watch it by them self .THE REST (99% of movie VERRY TOUCHING and having alot GOD's WILL for our kids to learn from. I HOPE "CINEMA SERVICE" FILM PRODUCTION COMPANY WILL CUT THESE "TERRIBLE MINUTES" UNSUITABLE for CHILDERN. Then I have a chance REORDER this PRODUCTION'S CUT Movie, and I think it will perfect for kids to watch this very good |

this movie is totally awesome. i got a dvd copy from a last-day sale (so i got it in a very, very low price) and i absolutely do not regret having bought this! this is quite a relief from all those adult romantic films and the likes because the main cast here were children. the "love" that was tackled here was more of the mother-son love.the movie was really touching. i watched it with my dad and we didn't care how many tears we've cried... this movie is really worth buying! |
