Hajime Chitose is back with the principal track from her third album Hanadairo. After an extended break of around 2 years during which she got married and became a mother, her new works are finally available. Chitose's latest hit single spin-off - Ao no Requiem can also be heard as theme song in the 2006 summer movie Hatsukoi ("First Love") that stars Miyazaki Aoi (of Nana fame) & Keisuke Koide (Pacchigi!) as lovers. Also performing the coupling song Toku e ikitai ("Want to Go Far Away"), Chitose is on her best way to amaze her fans anew!

'Ao no Requiem' is a pretty, rather typical theme-ballad that sounds better than it should more or less becaue of Chitose's vocal performance. Again and again she has proved that she can make just about anything sound amazing, and this song is no expception. The b-side, 'Tooku e Ikitai', is a cover of an old song. This version is definately different than the original, but it suits Chitose's voice perfectly. She's sounds just gorgeous on this b-side! (even if the song is rather short) While both songs are beautiful, and the cover art sure is lovely; with only one b-side, this single doesn't have much to offer to anyone who owns the album. |
