I'm a big jerk! Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Please ignore my former review! (T_T) I was sooooooooo wrong. Just recently, I've become ADDICTED to Tomiko Van's vocals. She just has one of those voices that need to grow on you. After you realize its beauty, you realize how talented she is. I now think she has a GORGEOUS voice with loads of emotion put forth. I don't think this album is as good as her DAI works, but it's not bad. Omg. what was I thinking? I know! The antis I've met damaged my brain. XD omgggg! she is really really really good! I apologize to DAI/Tomiko Van fans because I was REALLY REALLY WRONG. so sorry. I am a huge fan of hers now & I just wish I would've actually listened & focused before reviewing her CDs. (T________T) She has an incredibly strong voice too. Sometimes, it's scratchy..but that's all a part of her style! What was I doing when I sampled this?? (X_X) Maybe I was having a bad day......no idea.

Over.. Customer Review Rated Bad 2 - 2 out of 10
With DAI, Tomiko had some potential because she had beautiful music & arrangement to fall back on despite her weak vocals. Without them though...it's like..stick a fork in it, you're done!! 0.0 Her vocals are not good enough for a solo career. She sounds rough...=X I'm so sorry...but with DAI, they made magic...her alone...it's just nothing really special. I think what DAI had going for them was the music - never Tomiko's voice really..only thing going for her is the emotion she puts into her singing. T.T sorry, Tomiko....it's just too bad DAI broke up..all together they were sooo good..

all in all, a keeper. Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
After reading "Cherry Blossom-Garden's" review, i wondered if i made a mistake ordering this cd. Like "CB-G" stated, most solo ventures are average at best. "CB-G's" criticism of the vocals and general disappointment was a concern also. Well, at first, the cd was a disappointment, but after 2 weeks, i have changed my mind. For me, the criticism isn't the signing, but the overproduction/programming. Before i review each song, let me agree with "CB-G" and say that the "bonus" Disney song is corny, outdated and does not belong on anyone's cd. 1. FAREWELL: very nice song, lovely signing. The music could have been less "big". GRADE: A 2. MORNING GLORY: the music should have been more guitar based (esp. the instrumental/interlude), but has a nice melody, and nice vocals. GRADE: A 3. This boring song reminds me of a corny theme song to some 70's tv movie. Just a filler song. GRADE: F 4. Essence: The song/vocals are very good, but again, the programming/music production seem to be competing with Tomiko's voice. But still...GRADE A 5. Horoscope: Ever been in a restaurant with an in-house singer? This song will remind you of that. It starts off pleasant enough, but being over 6 minutes, it gets old after about 3 minutes. Musically, it is bland. GRADE:C 6. Complacence: This song will make D.A.I. fans happy. It has a great DAI feel to it. Only gripe (a minor gripe), is the programming that fills the gaps. GRADE:A 7. This may be one of the vocal gripes that "CB-G" had. The song itself is very nice but Tomiko could have toned down her voice a bit. But still..GRADE A 8. Holy Planet: Boring, nothing to remember it by. GRADE: F 9. Before Sunset: This song is a pleasure to listen to, but again, there is to much going on musically. It would have been fine with the basic guitar/piano background. nice vocals. GRADE: A 10. Hold Me: Boring jazz/dinner house type music. But, Tomiko's singing turn it into a pleasing song. GRADE: A-. Musically, i wasn't to impressed with this cd, but Tomiko and her voice are "all that", and make this cd a keeper. Oh, FYI, i folded the cd booklet over, and i am using the lovely photo (that is next the stupid Disney song) as the cd cover photo.

Not what I hoped it would be Customer Review Rated Bad 5 - 5 out of 10
Based on other people's recommendations I decided to pick up this album. I never really got into DAI even though I did like some of their singles. This album is a good example of what happens when a band splits up. The creativity I found in some of the DAI singles can't be found anywhere on this album. I also thought Tomiko's voice didn't suit most of the songs and that her voice sounded a bit..flat for most of them. There was only one even remotely interesting song on here, but I grew out of it too quickly to even remember which one. All in all, I would say that if you're a DAI fan, try it, if not..eh...I could recommend dozens of artists who are better than Tomiko Van. One last thing, why are Avex artists covering so many crappy Disney songs? I can't imagine wanting to listen to Disney song when they're sung by English speaking artists, let alone Engrish speaking ones.
