She's pretty, insanely rich, and moves as if every street on this planet is a catwalk. The perfect woman? Not so fast. Anna Jo (Han Ye Seul of Forbidden Love) might look like a million dollars, but she's nearly unbearable: she never smiles, treats everyone but her cat Princess like a dog, and has the very annoying and expensive tendency of wanting to change every single piece of furniture she sees. Enter Jang Cheol Su (Oh Ji Ho of Super Rookie), the owner of a very small construction company in the suburbs. He treats every bill like treasure, his house looks like the aftermath of an armed robbery, and his idea of fashion is wearing the local soccer team's jersey. When these two get together, they make a truly Fantastic Couple.

Based on the 1987 Hollywood film Overboard starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, Fantastic Couple became one of the most popular Korean dramas of 2006 simply for being outrageously funny. Showing once again their comic talent, the Hong sisters (writers of Sassy Girl Chunhyang and My Girl) mix sitcom tropes with interesting characters and even a little touch of drama to create arguably their best work to date. The biggest surprise is perhaps Han Ye Seul, who adapts to the two completely different sides of her role with great energy and spunk.

    기억상실로 인해 빚어진 애인 빙자 노동 착취극!!
    도저히 어울리지 않는, 만날 일조차 없을 듯한 두 남녀가 서로 맞부딪히며 벌어지는 환장할 상황 속에서, 결국은 환상의 커플로 다시 태어난다.

    어울리지 않을 두 커플이 결정적으로 엮이는 계기는 그 흔하다는, 기억상실증. 드라마 주인공 열중 셋은 걸린다는 기억상실증에 걸려버린 여주인공. 이 상황에선 당연히 멋진 남주인공이 그녀를 보살피고 감싸주고... 해야 하겠지만...

    이번엔 아니다. 진부한 상황을 독특한 캐릭터를 이용함으로 오히려 새롭게 풀어간다.
    기억담보 노동 착취극. 독특한 이야기 진행으로 식상한 소재를 비틀어 신선 발칙한 재미를 추구하고자 한다.

    재미교포이면서 막대한 부동산 건설 재벌인 리처드 조의 딸, 안나 조는 뉴욕 날씨에 짜증이 나 한국행 비행기에 몸을 싣는다. 천상천하 유아독존 그녀에게서 벗어나고 싶은 남편 빌리 박은 리조트 인수를 핑계 삼아 석 달 째 한국의 남해에 머무르고 있다. 한적한 도로를 달리던 안나는 길을 잃고 헤매다 도랑으로 차가 빠져버린다. 세 명의 조카들과 함께 살며 종합건축 설계인테리어공업사라는 잡탕식 간판을 단 소규모 건설업체의 사장 장철수는 운전하며 길을 가다 안나를 발견한다. 심하다 싶게 뻔뻔하며 돈이라면 사족을 못 쓰는 장철수는 안나에게 삼만원을 주면 자신이 해결해 주겠다고 얘기한다.

    장철수가 작업하는 동안 그의 차에 앉아 있던 안나는 철수가 벗어둔 겉옷으로 자신의 신발에 묻어있는 흙을 닦는다. 신발을 닦다 옷에 붉은 뭔가가 듬성듬성 묻어있는 걸 피로 오인, 또 뒷좌석 짐 더미들 밑에 깔려 비죽 나와 있는 마네킹의 머리카락과 손가락은 시체로 오인하여 완전 겁에 질린다. 때마침 천둥 번개가 쳐 고개돌린 철수의 얼굴은 살벌하기 그지없다. 한편 작업하던 철수는 안나가 자기 차에 앉아 뭔가 부시럭거리는 걸 보는데 옷 주머니 안에 꽂혀 있는 돈 봉투가 자꾸 신경이 쓰여 의심의 눈초리로 유심히 쳐다본다. 수상함을 느낀 철수는 작업하던 삽을 든 채 다가오고 안나는 무기될만한 걸 찾다 뚫어뻥을 철수 옷으로 둘둘 말고 방어 자세를 취한다. 철수가 바로 앞으로 다가와 문을 열려는 순간 안나 발로 문짝을 꽝 차서 철수는 그대로 넘어지는데...

    FUN TO WATCH! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
    I first refused to watch because Han Ye Seul was such a 'B' in the first episode. My friend started watching and convinced me to get back to it (around ep #4). So glad I watched...also bought it.

    Han Ye Seul ended up being one of my favorite actresses because of her role in this. And Oh Ji Ho... OMG he must be the most beautiful man on earth!!

    I made my granddaughter watch it. She got a crush on Oh Ji Ho (until she saw Gong Yoo in Coffee Prince, then it was goodbye Oh Ji Who?) LOL

    Yes, this is loosely based on Overboard (Goldie Hawn/Kurt Russell) but Couple or Trouble is funnier funnier funnier!

    This drama was highly recommended by a friend. I've seen the first episode and I'd like to see the rest. However, I want to know if the English subtitle of this Edition is any good. Please can someone who had purchased this DVD, write a review about the English subtitle and how will they rate it.

    not bad at all Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
    It looks like one of Goldie Hawn's old movie, title of which I have forgotten. However, it is different as it went on. Very very silly to begin with but it will get better and better as it goes along. Everyone is fine except I am not convinced with the girl who has mental disabilities. The ending is very satisfactory too. A light hearted comedy you will find enjoyable.
