Awesome music for an awesome movie! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This music is…absolutely stunning...this soundtrack brings the movie “14 Blades” to a higher emotional level, giving its characters a personal touch and creating an intimate experience for the viewers. “14 Blades” was the first time I knew of the musician Henry Lai. His work is absolutely mesmerizing. I’ve since had the chance to sample his soundtrack to “Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon.” (another masterpiece!) His blend of western and eastern instruments, voices, and drums is intoxicating. I love the way he gives the 14 Blades main theme a strong rhythm. The main melodies he’s created for this movie are very grand and epic, and uniquely Asian, but not enough to be generically boring. There are 3-4 main melodies, some being very “man”--rugged, heroic, and patriotic, others being very “lady”--delicate, tender, and bittersweet. There are a couple tracks that were a little blah and weird, but completely necessary for the story’s action/suspense sequence. The most memorable tracks are as follows: 14 Blades, The Bride, Qing Long, Qiao Hua’s Wedding, Pride, Saving Qiao Hua/Ethics of Thieves, The Righteous Gang, The Death of Xuan Wu, I Will Wait for You, An Elegy for Jinyiwei, Another Journey, Hope, Jinyiwei (song).
