Jack Mosley (BRUCE WILLIS) is assigned to escort petty criminal Eddie Bunker (MOS DEF) from the Third Precinct to the courthouse at 100 Centre St, 16 blocks away, where Eddie is set to appear in front of a grand jury before 10:00 a.m. as a witness to some innocuous crime. It should take Jack 15 minutes to drop him off at the courthouse and get home.
Overweight, out of shape, with a bad leg and a serious drinking problem, this is the last thing Jack wants to do. For six years Jack had medicated himself and shut out the world. Punching in and punching out. Just trying to stay out of trouble. But this morning he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
So when Jack shoves Eddie into a car and drives off into the morning rush hour, he has no idea that the next two hours will change his life. He doesn't see the signs, like the black van pulling in behind him. As Jack locks Eddie in the car while he picks up some breakfast from the liquor store across the street, he emerges just in time to prevent Eddie's execution, killing one assassin and narrowly escaping a second...
