A Brilliant Recreation
| 40 years ago, Ivy Ling Po became a star with this movie. Now she has brilliantly assembled Li Kun & Jen Chieh from the original cast to recreate a new Liang Shan Po & Chu Ying Tai in a stage setting. She also roped in the famous Hu Chin to play Chu Ying Tai & Ching San to play the school teacher. The costumes are dazzling & the stage props are very imaginative & artistic. Unfortunately, you can only see all this if you buy the dvd. With this cd, what is immediately apparent is that Ling Po has lost some of her vocal range but still shines as Liang Shan Po. No one else can sing Huang Mei songs like her. Hu Chin is no match for Tsin Ting, the original singer BUT when you see her act in the dvd, you forgive her as she delivers one hell of an acting job. This cd comes highly recommended. |
