CCTV's Spring Festival Gala, the world's biggest annual television event has come to its 30th anniversary in 2012. The massive variety show has taken on even more significance this year as it ushered in the Year of the Dragon. Televised globally on the evening of January 22nd (the Chinese New Year's Eve), the show this year had the usual array of segments such as song-and-dance performances, xiangsheng and skits, acrobatics and magic shows, and ethnicity performances. Among the highlights of the 2012 edition are Leehom Wang's rearranged version of his famous song "Descendants of the Dragon", the live duet of "Because of Love" by Eason Chan and Faye Wong, and the jaw-dropping mirror illusion trick performed by magician Liu Chien. Other celebrity performers include pianist Li Yundi, singers Sa Dingding and Song Zuying, actor Aloys Chen, Peking Opera artist Li Yugang, and pop idol Han Geng.
