Great Director!
| I avoided this film for the longest time because the idea of breaking into people's homes just bother me a lot. I'm very glad that I watched it. The film is simple, bizarre and surrealistic at times, but the loneliness, emotional neglects and abuses in society are all too real. The ending and the one sentence commentary is a surprise. It sets Kim Ki Duk apart. I think that he is a great director with substance. I have high respect for him. Both Jae Hee and the very pretty Lee Seung Yeon did an excellent job and they were well suited for this film. The video quality is very good. It's highly recommended! |

Finding solace in silence
|
"3-Iron" tells of a battered wife married to a brutal and thoroughly selfish husband and of a seemingly aimless young man who breaks into homes only to live in them, not to steal anything (other than the food he eats). The young man breaks into the battered wife's home and, after he is kind to her, they strike up one of the most unusual friendships in film history. Perhaps afraid to spoil this weird kinship they share with a jarring note, they remain silent with each other. Eventually they are caught for trespassing in someone's home. The wife is returned to her husband. Will the relationship with the young man now come to an end? How "3-Iron" answers this question takes on an almost mystical quality that turns the movie into something akin to an allegorical folk tale. Not everything works in this film, but I must give director Kim major kudos for following the audacity of his unique vision, for shying away from what in other hands might have become prurient, and for creating a beautiful tale of two wounded people reaching out to each other. Very highly recommended. |

OK but......
OK but......
| I get it, the movie is taking risks and artistically it is interesting but unless you are going into with this in mind, the entertainment value is not that high. It is quite frustrating that the two main characters do not talk in the entire movie. Which is fine, but there is no explanation as to why. Why are they breaking into people's houses and doing good deeds. Is he a hallucination she has created, it seems to be the case. I felt the movie was a bit slow and a bit boring but that was just me. I realize it has gotten stellar reviews so if you are intrigued by unique and artistic storylines then this one will suit you just fine. |

IT'S DIFFERENT
| I DO LIKE JAE HEE'S ACTING. ITS TO TOO HARD TO ACT WITHOUT SAYING A SINGLE WORD...AS IN. MAYBE THAT'S WHY HE WON THE BEST NEW ACTOR. DIFFICULT TO CONVEY A MESSAGE IF YOUR FACIAL EXPRESSION IS NOT GOOD, KUDOS FOR JAE HEE. LOVE THIS MOVIE, DIFFERENT FROM CHUNYANG. MORE MOVIES FOR HIM, PLEASE |

thought provoking
| i bought this video when it came out in 04 and had mixed feeling about it. it was vague at the ending but well done and very beaultiful in the portraying of the charactors feelings. i lent it to a friend and never got it back. i saw it in the foreign movie section and deicided to see it again. this is definately a see again movie. you will get more out of the next time you see it no matter how many times that is. it is open to your own interpretation and imagination which may change how you think of it the next time you see it. it is so complex and expresses so mush without words. i am definately going to buy it again. the actors were perfect for each other and their roles. it is not for everyones taste but if you like it, you will love it. |

interesting film
| One of Kim Ki-duk's film i really enjoyed...there isn't much dialogue between the two main characters, but liek they say a picture is worth a thousand words. This is more of an arthouse film and i totally loved it. The ending was wierd, but it didn't effect the movie. |

Weird
| This movie is weird and definitely not for everyone. However it will stay with you for a long time. I can see why it is more appreciated in Europe than Korea. Dialogue is minimum and in fact the male character could have been mute; the leading actress has altogether 2 lines. The director was lucky to have cast Jae Hee as the leading character long before he got famous. |

interesting
| i actually borrowed this from Blockbusters in the foreign movie section. i enjoyed the movie, and was in awe that the chemistry between the main leads were clearly dictated even tho they never uttered a word in the whole entire movie (the girl did scream once). i thought it was well done and the casting was pretty good, but i guess for you to enjoy the movie, you have to throw away the reaistic questions of WHY they're doing what they're doing, and HOW do they support themselves financially doing what they're doing... |

Excellent
|
I watched this film over many times. Some might think that no dialogue is weird, but believe me it worked out perfectly here. The silence brings out true feeling, and words are merely an instrument of deceitfulness. After all, words limits the mind and heart. I love the illusiveness of this film. In the end, you wondered, if everything was real or just an imagination of the mind. |
