New Dawn of the Twins Effect? Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Twin’s “3650” certainly evokes pleasant warm nostalgia, even if a feeling relating to a mere 10 years (Twins are still spring chickens, right?). First discovering Twins on the back of a Jade Screen Asia magazine advertising the movie “Twins Effect II” (memories, hay?), I’ve since enjoyed Charlene and Gillian’s unique spirit, daft slapstick and sophistication in both Twins music and movies. Here the Twins in “3650” anniversary mode reflect their past 10 years with new dance/upbeat songs “Meanwhile Rebirth”, “Talk To Me” and poignant ballad “Between Us”. Other Twins sounds are also present - 20’s jazz age/cabaret on “Rainbow”, childlike lullabies and a re-visited bombastic ‘Super Hits’ medley. Twins have had some hic-cups, but steadily returned back into the collected Asia pop music consciousness, and albeit new songs (with a more mature feel), “3650” re-awakens that past Twins Effect spirit. I definitely like “Meanwhile Rebirth” a suitable Twins dance song that’s as good as many previous dance songs and also “Talk to Me”, “3650”, “Between Us” and “Xai Yu’s Love”. The mega-mix medley “Ten Years Friendship” is a retro techno version of Twins 668 medley. (Played this then Intelligentsia’s “Civilizations” re-mix! Mix it Up!)

Hopefully Twins will continue doing their thang. Ah Sa and Gill are a lot more wiser now, more fortunate and enriched by life’s fire machine testing pattern, but surely stronger with a sufficient intact sensibility of their past innocence and charm (You are always You, and that's how it should be). Reflectively “3650” is a balanced album of fun, maturity, steadfastness, childlike poignancy and reflection. For packaging I got the Twins ‘nutty professors’ green cover (cor blimey I thought green was going to be the school girl cover..duh!). It’s nice to see the subtle contrasts to those original Twins album photos next to 3650’s updated versions. Charlene and Gill are still coquettish, coy, funny little rascals; a little tense around the edges, but no doubt getting back to where they left off. I also bagged the limited edition, but this CD is good for venturing into the Twins World if you haven’t already (if you love Asia pop you should have at least one collection of Twins..hohoho) as their song spirit brings a genuine aftertaste and that’s here, too. With this edition you also get a DVD and schoolgirl cover – you lucky things! :D (For other Twins CD recommends try “Evolution”, “Our Souvenir”, “Twins”, “Amazing” and “Magic”).

I just received my order yesterday (July 27 in Vancouver Canada). This limited edition is well worth the money. I like the photo album containing photos taken in Australia. The photo album is hard cover too. The 10th anniversary photo album is softcover. This one is so so. My CD box cover is the green one. Gill and Ah Sa had a wig (looks like a fro), fake mustache one, and a dirty lab coat on.

Talk to Me is quite catchy.

I just hope Twins can continue smoothly. Still cheering on for Gill.
