The passage of a heroic character in the under world seeking vengeance against conspirtor and the love of his younger brother. The brothers are in conflicting roles, the outlaw and cop. Sung Tse-kit (Leslie Cheung), a deicated policeman blamed Tse-ho (Ti Lung) for father's death as much as obstructing his career in the police force. Flamboyant Tse-ho and Mark (Chow Yuen Fat)are betrayed by their jealous subordinate Tam Shing (Lee Tse Hung) into he countereit syndicate. Gun wounded Tse-ho gives himself up in order to let Tam Shing escape. After serving his jail term. repentant Tse-ho returns to Hong Kong to lead a new life and finds out Mark was cripped in the massacre for his vengeance. But crooked Tam Shing as a rising lieutenant in the syndicate would not take chances. He wastes no time to plot against Tse-ho and Mark....

Sung Tse-ho (Ti Lung) joins an international counterfeit syndicate after his early release from prison. He and his brother, Tse-kit, is missioned by the police to collect evidence of the counterfeit activities of Lung's Ship Building Company. Ko Ying Pui, assistant of Lung (Dean Shekl, is in fact the man at the helm. Crooked Ko plans to kill Lung and take over his shipyard to serve his own purpose. in order to save the innocent, Tse-ho and Tse-kit (Lesile Cheung) escort Lung to New York and leave him under the care of Ken (Chow Yun Fat). Ken was a killer who has turned over a new leaf and leads a new life in New York. Lung is still in danger even though Ken fearlessly fights off the killers sent by Ko Ying Pui. a feeling of ethics and friendship makes Ken abandon his family and restaurant business to take Lung back to Hong Kong and deal with Ko.
When Ko discovers Tse-kit is an undercover from the police, he commands Tse-ho to kill his own brother. Tse-ho is forced to shoot. Tse-kit who escapes wounded. Tse-hi persuades Tse-kit to retreat as he is in great danger but Tse-kit firmly refuses....

I bought this expecting a visual treat. Tai Seng has been promising for years to release an uncut version with deleted scenes including a making of the movie feature. No such luck. The perks were very few and there's nothing showing the actors behind the scenes, having fun with this production. For a "remastered version" the visual wasn't much better than the video transfer and the audio could have been better. So why buy it? A few precious seconds more of Anita Mui. Enough said? But her fans deserved a better special edition than this, because without her, A BETTER TOMORROW III just wouldn't have been that good. |

Remaster Quality

| First of all, the movie is EXCELLENT. but the remastering by fortune star is NOT. The sound quality is okay with the DTS soundtrack but the sound effects sound hollow and artificial. The video quality definitely is an improvement over the older dvd release by universe. But the picture still looks washed out and blurry at times. There is an increase in detail though. If you already own a copy of the movie and want to upgrade, this boxset is not worth the extra cash. MEI AH is remastering older films like Fight back to school, god of gamblers, etc. Those dvds have amazing sound and picture quality compared to this dvd boxset. I rather wait until Mei Ah remasters A Better Tomorrow Trilogy then get this one. |

Out of all those...
| Out of all those movies I've ever watched in my life... "A Better Tomorrow" is the best, and most of all, the sequel is even better than the best... nowadays you can't find any movies with a better sequel than the first one. To my knowledge, people start imitating chow yun fat after the making of this movie... his scripts were in other movies, his looks, his style, people just think he's good, and he was. |
