Former actress and pageant queen Sharon Kwok takes a rare step into the spotlight for this special holiday charity album. A Brighter Christmas - With Sharon & Friends features a hefty line-up of veteran singers, plus some surprise additions: George Lam, Justin Lo (the lone young'un in the crew), Maria Cordero, Joyce Lee, Teddy Robin, Eric Tsang, Albert Au, Philip Chan, Anthony Chan of Wynners, Uncle Ray, actor Michael Wong, Joey Tang, and the first Miss Hong Kong, Elaine Sun. Proceeds from album sales go to Hong Kong charity organization Lifeline Express, giving these familiar Christmas hymns an air of extra warmth.
Highlights of the album include an all-star Jingle Bells, Sharon Kwok's Christmas song medley, Justin Lo's White Christmas, Michael Wong and son's rendition of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and Albert Au's Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!. Sharon Kwok especially wrote Chinese lyrics to Felix Navidad, for a special duet with George Lam. The album also comes with two George Lam bonus tracks, karaoke favorite "Need You Every Minute" and the Cantonese version of O Little Town of Bethlehem.

The Warmth of Friendship

Although I have received this CD after the Christmas holidays...listening to it now really gave me warmth in my heart. These are well respected singers/actors/actresses who dedicated their time and effort to making this CD possible and to know it is for a good cause really gives me reason to believe that not all things are superficial. Even though this may be a Christmas CD...the various artists have given it such an upbeat tone to it...this CD can be played throughout the year... I give this meaningful and fantastic CD a thumbs up (actually two thumbs up) for its great production and organization...and should be nominated "Best Christmas CD of the Year 2007!!"...... |
