A charmer from Yamada Yoji Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
"Tora-San Meets His Lordship", the nineteenth title in this excellent series, is a beautifully written and warmly funny film. Tora is peddling in the remote and scenic town of Ohsu when he meets a lovely young woman (Mano Kyoko) from Tokyo who is traveling on her own. Hoping to keep her from feeling lonely, Tora treats her to some special local food. He tells her that she should visit Toraya upon her return to Tokyo.

The next day Tora is worrying over his hotel bill when he meets an elderly man (Arashi Kanjuro) who has found a 500 yen note that Tora lost. Tora rewards the old man by buying him a soda and some sweet buns. The old man invites Tora to his home for supper. Tora is puzzled by the outdated and formal speaking style of the elderly man; Tora soon realizes that the old gentleman is none other than the local Daimyo. And the Daimyo has a request for Tora -- he wants Tora to find a young woman in Tokyo named Mariko, who is the widow of his youngest son. Tora offhandedly agrees to find her.

Ten days later the Daimyo shows up at Toraya asking for Tora. When Tora arrives moments later, he is astonished to see the old man, then becomes alarmed when the Daimyo presses him about whether he has found Mariko. Tora fears that, if he fails in this task, the Daimyo may seek to cut off his head! Tora then sets about the entire impossible task of scouring the metropolis of Tokyo for this faceless woman known only as Mariko.

Soon the lovely young woman that Tora met in Ohsu arrives at Toraya to thank him for his generosity. Tora learns that her name is Mariko and that, surprise, surprise, she is the Daimyo's missing daughter-in-law. Mariko is reluctant to meet the Daimyo, who disapproved of her marriage to his son and shunned the young couple, but, when they actually meet, both the Daimyo and Mariko are deeply moved.

Weeks later a letter from the Daimyo is delivered to Tora. In it, the Daimyo asks Tora to persuade Mariko to move into the Daimyo's home in Ohso ... and to bring Tora along as her husband. Tora and his family are stunned. Tora reels at the thought of being married to this gorgeous and kind young woman and living in the Daimyo's mansion. Will Tora end up living in the lap of luxury with the woman of his dreams?

Watch this humorous and warm-hearted movie to find out. I recommend "Tora-San Meets His Lordship very, very highly for a general audience.
