Sweet tale of innocent love Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
For me, "Tora-San's Good Samaritan" is the most touching film in the great Tora-San series. Tora encounters Hanako, a pretty and innocent young woman who is seeking to return to her hometown. Tora soon realizes that childlike Hanako is slightly mentally retarded. His heart goes out to her and he seeks to help her return home, giving her directions to stop at his aunt and uncle's sweet shop on the way.

He returns to Toraya soon after Hanako's arrival there. Tora then takes her under his wing to find employment in the neighborhood. Tora clearly has fallen for Hanako. Will this be the perfect match for Tora? Or will Hanako return to her beloved school in her beloved hometown?

Hanako's simple innocence makes this an especially moving story; Tora clearly yearns to take care of this sweet girl for the rest of his life. Also, for the second time in the series, we meet Tora's mother, the former downmarket geisha who now runs a love hotel in Kyoto.

"Tora-San's Good Samaritan" is recommended very highly for anyone who seeks a beautifully told, bittersweet comic romance.
