Zone Free Releases please! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
It is great to read the reviews but unless there are issues for Zones A,B,C (i.e. Zone Free) in which e.g. most 'older' titles in the USA and Britain are released , we won't be throwing our old DVD's away! Cheers!

What a Treasure Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Most people probably already know what this trilogy is about, so I'm not going to give a review of the movies. Instead, I'll give a brief review of the technical aspects of this DVD boxset. This boxset is a real treasure if you're a fan of "A Chinese ghost story". The picture quality is significantly improved over the "Megastar DVD versions" which were released more than 10 years ago. I have a big screen tv, and believe me, the picture is crystal clear, almost as if these DVDs were officially produced by large Hollywood Studios like Sony, Warner Bros., Paramount, etc. The sound quality is also greatly improved. You WILL notice all of these improvements when you play them. I was hesitant at first to get this boxset since I already owned the MegaStar versions on DVD and also because of the fact that the MegaStar versions had poor picture and audio quality when viewed on large screen TVs. These three great wonderful films have finally been given the treatment that they deserved. The improvements are so astonishing that one can only wonder why these films weren't given a theatrical release in North America.

Beautiful Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I absolutely love this remastered series. Even the change of colours is for the better. For instance, the love scene in Part I originally was in full colour, but I feel that shading the scene in blue gives it a more mystical, exotic, and sensual feel.

The music and sound is also much better than the previous versions. I love the lyrics of the love scene in Part I. The music during Joey Wong's bath scene is also appropriately (and sensually) placed.

I only wished that the DVDs could have been packed with more extras.

Impressive remastered Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Wow, this collection is quite awesome. It even came with a booklet featuring all 3 A Chinese Ghost Story characters and behind the scene. But it would be better if the pages were much more thicker. But still the DVD's were a bestmanics. They have done such a great job on refixing the graphic and sounds. I was impressed by the way it has change from being old to new. The big changes has made it looked like the movie has just came out and is about to be playing in the theaters. Even though I have already gotten the old version series of A Chinese Ghost Story, these new remastered versions are much much more better. Except for sometimes some scenes are in different colors, instead of the fires being red it was green/blue. But anyway these may be the last versions of A Chinese Ghost Story, and I hope that it is. Which makes These a great collection of A Chinese Ghost Story collection.

A Chinese Ghost Story remastered version Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I own this trilogy available on Laserdiscs and Megastar dvd because I’m a Joey Wong fan. Fortune Star offers us today a better transfer compared to the previous releases. Luckily for me, DTS-ES sound is clear and they did a good job here. The orignal format 2.35 is curiously presented in 1.85 widescreen enhanced for 16 :9 in using a big zoom, color is nice, but the pixels proved to be visible even the average bitrate came up to 8.6Mbps, many scenes are misty or grainy (A Chinese Ghost Story 1 and 3), sometimes the data compression of Chinese Ghost Story 3 shows up, only the second one has an excellent transfer. After all, these three movies are very impressive !

You can throw out your old Megastar items, this packaging is really addictive and the work made for the encoding + sound is amazing !!!!
