Based on a popular novel, A Love of Blueness is a seemingly quiet character romance which deepens into a possible murder mystery. Rookie cop Tai Lin once wished to be an artist, but has instead followed in his father's footsteps and become a policeman. One day, he discovers Liu Yun, a young woman apparently attempting suicide by threatening to jump from a bridge. When Tai Lin rushes to help, she claims to be guilty of the murder of her husband. But she really isn't. Liu Yun is just an actress, and her staged suicide was part of a "new experience". The meeting begins a connection between the two; Liu Yun calls Tai Lin for help in finding a man named Ma Baijul, and Tai Lin finds himself drawn in by Liu Yun's dedication to her art. But Tai Lin soon discovers that Ma Baijul was actually a part of a twenty year-old murder case that was never solved by Tai Lin's own father. What is Liu Yun's connection to that case, and will it destroy the fragile bond the two have begun to share? Directed by Huo Jianqi (Postmen in the Mountains), A Love of Blueness is a beautifully-shot tale of past crimes, personal identity, and haunting emotion.
