Red presents a sexy and powerful concept, while A.S. Blue is cute and sporty. As decided by fan voting, A.S. Blue consists of Joo Yeon, Raina, Lizzy, and E-Young. The girls confess to their Wonder Boy with a sweet and fresh summer love song by "Magic Girl" and A~ing♡ composer Cho Young Soo. The Blue single album also includes the new track Lady.

매 앨범마다 색다른 퍼포먼스로 시선을 끌었던 애프터스쿨이 4명씩 반으로 나뉘어 두 팀으로 출격한다. 한국 가요계에서 최초로 시도되는 형태로, 한 팀이 둘로 나뉘어 ‘따로 또 동시에’ 음반 발표 및 활동을 시작하여 서로가 서로의 라이벌이 되는 색다른 대결을 펼치게 되었다.
애프터스쿨의 새로운 두 유닛은 7월 말 본격적으로 출격하며, 애프터스쿨의 오리지널리티를 살린 섹시하고 강렬한 컨셉의 Red팀, 여름을 겨냥하여 상큼 발랄한 컨셉으로 활동하는 시원한 Blue팀으로 각각 출격한다.
A.S. BLUE 팀은 ‘원더보이’라는 상큼한 러브송으로 여름을 뜨겁게 달굴 예정이며, 조영수가 작곡한 귀엽고 상큼한 멜로디가 A.S. BLUE 팀의 청아한 보이스와 어우러져 한층 더 발랄하게 표현 되었다. 특히 당당하게 고백하는 내용이 담긴 가사는 흔하디 흔한 러브송에서 탈피하여, 모든 여성이 따라 부르고 싶은 고백송으로 탄생하게 되었다.
컴백 할 때 마다 항상 새로운 컨셉으로 대중들을 놀라게 했던 애프터스쿨이 또 한번의 ‘놀라움’을 실현하기 위해 컴백을 앞두고 있다. 이번엔 무엇으로 우리의 기대를 충족 시켜줄지 지켜봐도 좋을 듯 하다.

…but also 4 cute 'Blue Adepts' :D

…..sweet cool and heavenly blue, with princess Lizzy and her team in a peaceful evergreen scene. In fact it all seems more green than BLUE ('negative' yin), by the grass and hills. Also surely reflecting the Korean Taegukgi this A.S. BLUE version may refer to the four virtues and the summer ‘season’, considering the girls dressed in white and a bit vestal ‘Virgin’ looking. The BLUE songs are “Wonder Boy” and “Lady” (and if you get those mixed up you might get Lady Boy and the Wonder Blue!). “Wonder Boy” is one of those springy upbeat numbers you’d find on many a Korean soap opera drama OST; certainly a light, cute and catchy leitmotif K-drama type. A mix of Korean pop/Swedish Abba/Osmonds/Baby Love Motowny sort of thing. “Lady” is a nice R&B mid tempo ballad. But as like the A.S. RED version songs, both BLUE songs have decent choruses and structure. After School fans will surly love these as much as the more danceable RED ones. I like em both, anyway. The BLUE booklet album version as matte printed pages and photographs of Lizzy, Raine, Jo-yeon and E-young throughout in similar outdoor scenes to the album cover. Quite a few close up face shots, too, of all 4 ladies! The pages also feature colour photos on both sides of the pages unlike the RED ‘postcard’ version. For the autograph BLUE I received talented E-young (fank you E-young). As this is two more ‘sub units’ since the Orange Caramel one it seems that After School have a lots of separate, eh, units. What could be next? Before Dormitory? After Nine?…considering Bekah’s now present absence from A.S. (is Bekah only really skiving from school? Write those lines of ‘I must not skive from After School’ 4,000 times Bekah (LOL! – no, seriously, good fortune with you career, Bekah). Pink Ribbons? Gym Slip Vibe? Parting Unit? After Work….Still Working? AT SCHOOL! (get in them uniforms….sorry >>) Ahhh, I’m only kidding! Kahi and A.S. are great and I’m pleased the eight girls are having further advancement in music. This double release is good and A.S., just be HAPPY in whatever you do – solo, group or sub unit. Don’t get big disappointments – just enjoy the moment and love the MUSIC. I know the ‘Graduation’ thing is a pain in the porthole for fans, but it softens the inevitability of changes. Hopefully, though, there won’t be any more A.S. ‘Graduations’ just yet for the sake of it. |
