Jazz-tinged Reggae
|
Kodama was the leader of the pioneering dub group Mute Beat. Mute Beat's unique contribution was that they took Jazz and Pop tunes and played them with an authentic Reggae signature time. Unlike many Japanese bands then and now, Mute Beat never lacked or ignored the bass component of the music. Kodama has put out many fine solo albums and an excellent soundtrack, but he seems to have made another creative breakthrough beginnning with "Stars" and this continues with "A Silent Prayer". Highly recommended unless you prefer the sparse sound of dancehall. |
