leon lai's singing is very bad. this is the truth. the music is good. but his singing is bad. did he take singing lessons? i used to be his fan and i have to admit the truth. his singing is not good. sometimes he sounds like he is mumbling over the words. |

Listen to the music!

Even though ballads are nothng new, there are different kinds of ballads, what keeps me intrigued is how Leon could keep singing all these ballads and still make it fresh, because he and Mark are really driven people and don't like repeats (unlike Jay, although I listen to his music). Yes, most types of ballads here Leon hasn't sang before. The first song, changing from a normal voice to a falsetto, the fifth song, and the next, which has irregular beats and is difficult to sing, if you sing it you would know. The eighth song, which is more an oriental song. And the one thing we failed to mention is, all the ballads have modern arrangements, so although the songs are not those sugar-coated lolli-pop that we're used to nowadays, it's an easy-listening album without the boringness of Dao Lang who has boring arragements. |

Very Strong Album different from usual uninspiring

First thing, if all you care about is catchy songs that you can sing in karaoke, you will be dissapointed. the music, lyrics and vocals in this album is not the usual mass produced ballards that other singers put out every 4-5months (Hacken are you listening?) This is a much more sophisticated album in all aspects of music, delivery and lyrics and unfortunately a lot wont be able to appreciate it since they have been overexposed to the usual ballard type songs that are so popular since anybody who has a voice can sing it and follow it. this is truly an "artistic" album evident in the arrangement and we get a never before heard Leon and a very good and much needed change from the factory produced ballards that follow the same formula that are only good for theme songs to TV shows. it's a shame most people don't have the ability to appreciate what a real music album should be like, it should reflect the mood of the artist and composer and not what would sound good for a commercial or themesong or for people to sing in karaoke. yes, a lot of people have more singing talent than Leon (and Jay Chou is Definitely NOT one of them) but they waste it on the mass produced garbage that is overflowing the airwaves. it takes courage and the right people to put out such an album that goes against the normal formula derived ballards and actually has artistic merit. for believe or not, singers are "artists" not machines to spew out themesongs or repeat stuff that has been overdone |

Let me make a very straightforward comment: This album is not for the teenyboppers. For the fans maybe, but who can disagree that, comapred to his other albums, this appeals to the older crowd more? Of course people used to listening to K-song melodies (which Leon did for the past year) will find this boring. What they miss is what the adults will be more likely to notice: tight compositions with detailed, careful arrangements. The lyrics are steps above whatever Hacken's doing, so there's no need to argue that. I gave this album a 9 because the "Love YOu Crazily" song annoys me and definitely does not fit in with the other songs. In conclusion, keep in mind that this album is for those with longer attention spans and a greater knowledge for music, not 15 year olds looking for songs that are catchy on first listen, or fast songs that have *ooooo* sound effects that amuse them. Thank you for your time. |

Andy, Hacken & Jay better singers? Come on, poor Andy's been around for 20 years now and only has 1 classic. U'd think if he was a good singer that decent composers would sell him songs?! Hacken doesn't even sing with emotions. Seriously, turn off the sad or happy background music and ask someone who doesn't understand cantonese to listen to his singing, bet is they won't know what the mood of the song is supposed to be. He sings with the same tone and the same emotions in every single song. Yes, agree, he hits the lows and the high notes... so what?!?! U can't sing a love song without emotions. Jay... he's a great composer/producer, but don't even compare his singing to Leon's... I listen to his music too, yes, good to listen to... but listen carefully, he's really just yelling. U know it's true, some people really just buy Leon's album for the good looking pictures. But that doesn't mean there aren't people who really buy it for the music. It's not his fault he was born with a perfect face. I wouldn't say he's lucky for being beautiful as well, a lot of the criticism he gets comes from his looks. Some people just hate him because he looks so good. There are so many narrow-minded people out there who automatically assume he can't sing because he's hot... geez... just because u weren't born perfect. By the way, this album has earnt him lots of praises from Hong Kong DJ's... so how does his voice automatically kill a song? I'm really interested. I've been listening to his album for a long time... u can dislike his voice because it's not ur type or u can love it because u like the smooth and low type voice... but there's honestly nothing wrong with his voice!!! It's so disappointing... after so many years people are still so determined to bash him... I must be really dumb or something... because I really don't understand why... |
