Challenge Of Life (End)
January 24, 2012 I bought it for the bonus TV movieNo doubt this drama a classic. I did not care whether it had scenes cut out or not as it's a very long drama. Since it's not my favourite TVB dramas of all time, cutting it short is not a bad thing, I could follow it with no problem, everything intact.
I actually bought this set just because of the complemetary TV movie 《藍色時份》. I had looked and looked all over the internet and was unable to find this movie for sale alone. It's an excellent movie with a fine cast and storyline about 2 women's attitute towards life. Very touching story.

The Bund (End)
November 16, 2011 Japanese official release is bestTo-date the best version of this drama ever released is the Japanese official release. All 25 episodes intact with full title and ending scores but the picture&sound quality is not the greatest due to the age of the drama (not re-mastered). If I remember correctly the HK VCD version has a more vivid colour picture quality but I personally prefer an unedited storyline to picture quality if I had to choose.
No full score rating for the HK VCD version due to scenes being edited.

The Shell Game (VCD) (End) (TVB Drama)
November 16, 2011 Get US Tai Seng versionI had been looking and looking....to-date the best version released of this drama is the US Tai Seng DVD version but unfortunately at present it is fully sold out and will probably never to be produced again. The version consists of both Shell Games I & II. Although title & ending scores were also edited out BUT at least the plot is more intact than the VCD version. I have not fully watched the whole box set but have checked a few major scenes not in the VCD version are in the DVD version. If you like this drama and want a copy, grab the Tai Seng version new or second hand if you have the luck. I was just lucky enough to get a brand new genuine copy before it disappeared from the market.
Score of 8 is for the edited VCD version which is only worth keeping because of its original cover design.

Blood Of Good And Evil (Part 1) (To Be Continued)
Blood Of Good And Evil (Part 1) (To Be Continued) VCD
(5)Our Price: US$38.40Usually ships within 30 daysNovember 14, 2011 Cover DesignI agree with the last reviewer re the cover design which is the major flaw of this VCD set. Images of the characters were definitely not from the drama itself. It looks like it's just a collage of some random magazine cutout photos. I can't believe a TVB authorised product would follow the China pirated DVD packaging trend. I hope TVB would soon issue a fully unedited DVD version with improved cover design.
Still the drama itself is a brilliant masterpiece of the 90s......

Heart warming storyline. Lots of funny moments in the dialogues between the lazy police officers.

Shanghai Bund (Ep.1-42) (End) (China Version)
April 24, 2007 Some long & dragging scenesThe show was good in general. Acting was also brilliant. Perfectly understood new elements had to be added to the story to attract viewers but from time to time there were VERY long dragging scenes. These were usually scenes with the bad guys, the diaglogues went on and on and on which could last for 10 mins or more. I really wanted to press the fast forward button on my remote control to skip them. (I felt like I was watching those Han or Ming dynasty epic show when the bad guys always get together planning a conspiracy) I think this maybe just the way how TV scripts are usually written in China. I have also learnt that there was an alternate ending but the one released on DVD is very disappointing.....not satisfying at all. Hsu Wen Chiang did so much for nothing.......
The show was beautifully filmed, Shanghai setting and the cars and props gave a terrific mood for that era and it did surpass the original 1980 show. The last 5 episodes were more fast paced and not as dragging. In general the fighting/killing scenes were VERY violent.
Acting wise Huang Xiao Ming did a brilliant job as Hsu Wen Chiang but the character itself (from the script) was not as cool as the original.
Weakness of the script
(1) Hsu Wen Chiang always had to face multiple gunmans at one time. He could always gunned them down but himself seldom got hit, how could this be possible? Imagine standing in front of 10 men i.e. one to many with no covering?!? - very unrealistic. Any wound to the face would heal the next day most of the time with no scars or bruises ?!?
(2) Feng Ching Ching was being kiddnapped or attempted kindnap 3 times. Too repetitve in idea.
(3) Group gun pointing to the head - at least 3 times. Too repetitive in idea. Cool to watch the first time and seems stupid if too many.
(4) The character Fong Yen Yuan was named the #1 social girl (prostitute) in the High Society. Although highly educated, she should be sexy enough voice or body language etc) in some way to earn the reputation. This character did not show any of it and was like a piece of wood with the men. The 1980 version of Fong Yen Yuan wins.
Hsu Wen Chiang - good looking, good acting
Ding Li - Good actor but not good looking
Feng Ching Ching - OK but with a forehead like ET
Feng Chin Yao - OK but the character is boring
Depty Police Master - boring characater
Chin Dai Chung - The MOST boring character
Chen Han Lin - good to see this character not killed

Lin Qing Xia Hua Chuan ( Jian Ti Ban)
March 6, 2006 Nice bookThe book consists of loads of photos of Lin Qing Xia. I actually think that they are not as poor quality as the last reviewer has stated considering the age of the original print. Most photos are quite colourful, although some are a little blur but acceptable. Ms Lin was really a beauty in her younger days. Glad to have bought this book, good value but need to struggle a bit in reading simplified Chinese. This photobook was printed in China, book design and paper quality wise are pretty good.

A Cruel Lover (Vol.1-30) (End) (US Version)
February 21, 2006 Great drama from ATVThis is one of the best dramas ever produced by ATV. I loved it. Good strong storyline, filmed in Hong Kong and Thailand. Kwong Wa was the No.1 actor of ATV at the time. I am not sure how the rating went when it's aired in Hong Kong, I saw it on video some years ago overseas. Frankly speaking I usually watch TVB dramas only but this one got me hooked from episode 1. Great to see it come out in digital form. Will definitely place an order soon to own a copy. (P.S. One very funny thing to look out for is Kwong Wa's clothing when he is rich and famous, very entertaining, haha!)

Blood Of Good And Evil (Part 2) (End)
November 21, 2005 Good news - Finally an uncut TVB dramaI first hesitated to buy this drama as I knew that ALL earlier TVB VCD dramas were edited with scenes cut out. Always loved this drama and had waited so long for it to come out. Finally it was released. Before purchasing, I confirmed and reconfirmed with the seller that this is an UNCUT version. So glad that the seller did not lie....I have just completed Part 1 of this drama, all scenes in place, all background music unchanged. Video transfer NOT seems to be digitally remastered, colours OK but images are a little dull. Well...the drama is slightly over 13 years old, they probably did not need to revise it like some older dramas. Anyway, as long as it is the same version as aired, I am satisfied. The only editing done was fitting all the original episodes onto 24 discs (12 x 2 box sets). In part 1, the title song appears once only on Disc#1. Will start on Part 2 soon.

September 17, 2001 Cantonese dubbed by ATV Hong Kong not TVBThis was one of my favourite story from the Bao Qing Tian series but it was ATV (TV company) dubbed. I bought this product not realising that it was voiced over by ATV. To give you a little bit of background of the Bao series when it was aired in Hong Kong:- TVB was the first Hong Kong TV station that aired it and due to the extremely high rating, the opposing TV station called ATV went off to buy its sort of HK copyright (I am not sure exactly what they called it). ATV then aired from the final episode backwards while TVB was airing it in sequential episode order. I personally think that ATV was crazy. Ok, back to this product, I found the TVB voices and the music arrangement were far better than the ATV version. But if you only want Cantonese soundtrack and don't mind about whether it's ATV or TVB, then this product is not bad at all. Frankly speaking the ATV music arrangement was far better than the original Taiwanese version though.
