Accidental Kidnapper (DVD) (English Subtitled) (Malaysia Version) DVD Region 3

Based on the novel by Ogiwara Hiroshi (Memories of Tomorrow), Accidental Kidnapper is the third film by actor/director Sakaki Hideo (Versus). The comedy-drama follows Takahashi Katsunori as a debt-ridden loser who kidnaps a child that he finds out later is the son of a powerful gang boss. However, Accidental Kidnapper is no serious crime film, as Sakaki keeps his violence comic while putting the story focus on the relationship between the kidnapper and his young "victim". The result is a comically delightful film that was one of the two runner-ups for the Audience Award at the 2010 Udine Far East Film Festival.

Date (Takahashi Katsunori) is very deep in debt, and he believes that his only way out is suicide. After a failed attempt, he finds the six-year-old Densuke (Hayashi Roi) hiding in his car and unwilling to return home to his stern father (Aikawa Sho). Remembering advice from his days in prison, Date decides to "kidnap" Densuke for ransom, and the young boy is more than willing to go along with it. However, Date soon finds out that Densuke's father is actually a gang boss, sending the traveling pair on the run from the entire gang. Meanwhile, two cops desperate for a promotion watch the happenings on the side and contemplate stepping in.
