This CD Rocks!!
| I love Yaida Hitomi and her cd rocks!!! The guitar in 'hitori jenga" is awesome! and the song '"Keep on Movin' " would have to be my favorite because it's background music is wonderfully played and the vocals are sung beautifully too. I love it because it's a fun upbeat,light-hearted song. and yes,I do speak some Japanese so I understand the basics of the songs. I definitely recommend this cd to anyone who is a J-Pop/J Rock fan. this cd is awesome!!! |

The Best!!
| This album is by far the one of the best j-rock albums I have ever had the opportunity of listening to! Every song has it's own catchy beat - from the "Hitori Jenga" to "Kono Koi Wa Shimatte Shimaou" this album mesmerizes you with the combination of beautiful lyrics and instrumentals. I can honestly say I love every track on this CD. If you are a Yaiko fan or just a big fan of j-pop/j-rock, this album is a MUST!!! YAIKO ROCKS!!! |

where is the overseas version of this album?!!! what about us fans over in america? ahhh yesasia should always carry overseas versions unless they are selling to people in japan, and that wouldnt make sense for jpop musik |

Review from a Yaida Hitomi Amateur

Well, I must say, I am no Yaida Hitomi expert. Almost all of my dealings with her have either been from the Inuyasha OSTs or her hit singles which have been passed to me. So this, I suppose, is an unbiased review on the CD, as I do not know much as to her past music. I AM however, knowledgeable in the J-pop/J-rock genres, so I am at least a trustworthy reviewer in the sense that I know the genre. Anyway, onto the review: I would say this is definately a strong album in the rockish-j-pop genre. Overall the instrumentals (Guitar, bass, drum) are well-played, but the music is a bit simplistic. They never really expand outside of their baseline riffs. Although I do not feel that really affects the enjoyability of the CD, you just have to take the album for what it is: pop. Its not expected to have complicated instrumentals. The other instruments involved (I believe I heard piano, harmonica, maybe a violin, and a brass section) are played marvelously and really add to the flavor of the disk. And as always, Yaiko's vocals are top-notch and fit into the music splendidly, having a wide vocal range and just generally sounding excellent. There seems to be a wider range of more calm and mellow music on this cd than what I'm used to hearing from her (which isnt a lot however). "Kono Koi Wa Shimatte Shimaou" is a probably on my top three tracks off this album. The piano was a nice mixup from the rest of the tracks, although most of the others were excellent or better. Very slow, serene ballad. On "Mienai Hikari," there was some excellent violin work. It seems my favorite songs on this album involved other instuments being thrown in rather than just the groups base showing. "Mama to Daddy," is a very pop-punk influenced song. I personally do not have an appetite for pup-punk, but for those who do, this is probably some of the best you're going to get. "Hello," "Mother," and "Chain," round out close to the top of my list, being slow, relaxing, mellow songs. But definately my favorite track on here is "Keep on Movin." Very very influenced (most likely) by the growing ska scene in Japan, this has a tight brass section, throwing in some jazz tones and ska lines into the mix. I have to love this, with ska being one of my top genres of music. Very upbeat and just plain fun. If youre a non-visual j-rock fan lookin' for a not-so-serious time (musically) or a J-pop fan in general, you'll most likely love this. Also a note: As I do NOT speak Japanese, i was unable to rate the lyrical content on this CD. Please take this into consideration and look up lyrics if you are one of those people who are looking for deep or inspired lyrics. They might be here, but I wouldn't know, sorry! |
