中学生のグァンホ（イ・ジェウン）はソウルの下町に母と妹と暮らしていた。父は外国に出稼ぎに出ており、一家は母マルスン（ムン・ソリ）が化粧品の訪問販売をして生計を立てている。しかし、教養がなく男まさりに働く母をグァンホは恥ずかしくてたまらないのだった。離れに住むウンスク姉さん（ユン・ジンソ）は彼の憧れの対象で、顔を洗う彼女の姿を見るだけで彼の心はときめく。そんなグァンホはある日「4日以内に7人に同じ手紙を出さなければ不幸になる」という不幸の手紙を受け取る。悩んだ末に彼は近所に住む知恵遅れのチェミンや親友のチョロ、母親、ウンスクなど身近な人たちに手紙を出す。ところが彼らはその手紙を他の誰かに転送して不幸を免れようとする気を全く起こさない。グァンホは心配になるが。。。
