Famous director Furuhata Yasuo (
Poppoya / Railroad Man) makes the film
Red Moon based on a novel by the award-winning writer Nakanishi-Rei. Furuhata invested a huge amount to re-create in reality the Manchurian winery described in the novel. For the grandiose battle scenarios and extravagant banquet scenes, hundreds of extras were involved to make them look real.
Japanese TV idol Tokiwa Takako stars as a liberal-minded and independent woman in search of love and passion, living in Manchuria during World War II. Confident in the film's quality and Furuhata's direction, Tokiwa Takako finally agreed to appear naked on the silver screen for the first time. Other actors in the film include 16th Tokyo International Film Festival's Best Actor Kagawa Teruyuki, famous rock band singer Hotei Tomoyasu, and gorgeous model Iseya Yusuke from Casshern. The film received five nominations in the Japan Academy Prize 2005.
