When I first heard that a movie would be made about the life of Alexander the Great, I was really excited: an epic about one of the greatest warrios in history! Guess my expectiations were too high: the casting was bad (Colin Farrell should consider another job, since this was the worst piece of acting I've ever seen), the movie was too long (3 whole hours!!!), and I nearly fell asleep due to the boring narration of the story by Anthony Hopkins. It's a big shame: Alexander the Great did not deserve this! |

This is the rushed theatrical cut, a Final Cut will be released later in the year. "Alexander" was ignorantly trashed. Stone clearly invested this giant film with passion. A study of power, it's a DRAMA of a complex personality at the center of significant events, as opposed to fantasy action. Instead of unrealistic heroics it focuses on psychology and the reality of battle. The acting and overall tone of the movie is pretty thunderous and raw. Personal. To movie critics that meant awful because loud emotions scare them. The big problem some have is Farrell's historically accurate feminine traits and cultural sex attitudes. The text of the script and the way it was filmed presents a detailed and psychologically compelling thesis about a significant personality, which is more interesting than a bunch of movie critics' use of negative adjectives. Disregard mainstream hyperbole. Order this and think for yourself. Best elephant scene ever! |

Excellent movie

This film is much more complex than the ordinary epic and try to portray the many faces of humanity through Alexander, the war scenes are amazing. A must buy , but an open mind in needed |

Alexander the Great is one of the greatest generals in history. In this movie, Colin Farrell portrays Alexander as the greatest sissy in the world. Farrell was totally implausible as Alexander...VERY BAD CASTING!!! And please shoot Anthony Hopkins as the most boring narrator of this totally boring story! Watching this movie is the same as being shot in the face! PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS MOVIE....it's for your own good! |
