Up-and-coming Taiwanese director Liu Yi Hong has ruffled quite a few feathers in the past two years, first with the controversial award-winning youth drama Bump Off Lover and most recently with the queer Christian film I Saw a Beast. But this is certainly nothing new for anyone who saw Liu's 1999 debut feature Aliens in Taiwan, which comes from some deep left recess of the human mind. As the title says it, this strange sci-fi film is quite literally about aliens in Taiwan, but what the little green men represent is a whole different story. The film depicts the arrival of many different kinds of aliens in Taiwan - kind aliens, evil aliens, scary aliens, timid aliens - and how these extraterrestrials change the lives of the people they encounter, and the fate of the human race itself. A heady mix of black humor, campy fantasy, and biting social commentary, Aliens in Taiwan is certainly one of the most unique films to have come out of Taiwan in the last decade, and it's now finally available on DVD.

在片中，范瑞君演的是一名自覺落難的貴族，柯叔元扮的是她一事無成的老公，而謝君良演的是代表廿一世紀的偽君子，所以全片看來有相當濃厚的批判意味，由於堅持戲都是假的理念，以劉議鴻與美術設計故意讓一切佈景與演員化妝看來粗糙與失真，他說只要演員在演出過程中流露的是真摰的感情，而觀眾能看得 各有感覺，對他來說就夠了。
