Very entertaining Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Sweet -- that's the word for "Almost Love", one of the sweetest movies you'll ever see. Kim Ha Neul stars as Dal Rae, as aspiring actress who is terrified at performing before an audience. In between going to occasional failed auditions (during which she shakes like a leaf), she attends university with her hunky boyfriend, a Taekwondo student. Also on the school's Taekwondo team is Ji Hwan (Kwon Sang Woo), a part-time movie stuntman who has been Dal Rae's best buddy since they were little kids. Dal Rae tells us that Ji Hwan stopped maturing at age 10; he has an obsession with Jackie Chan is determined to become a martial arts movie superhero. However, when tragedy strikes, relationships must be reassessed, challenges must be faced, and goals must be adapted.

Much of this film's story is advanced through voice-over narration by the Dal Rae and Ji Hwan characters. This gives the movie a kind of fairy tale-ish feel that nicely suits its sweet heart. All three of the lead actors give intriguingly quirky performances and Kim Ha Neul and Kwon Sang Woo share a wonderful screen chemistry. "Almost Love" may be as light as gossamer, but I found it richly satisfying.

Actually quite good! Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
Just like many other audiences, this movie looked attractive because I am totally in love with My Tutor Friend and longed to see KSW and KHN performed together again. However, high expectation always causes some problems. To some extent, I think this is in fact we audiences misleading ourselves by bias. Now I realized that it is much better to evaluate this movie on its own, without reference to My Tutor Friend which is a movie of a totally different kind.

I would first like to briefly mention that I had been seriously misled by the advertisement of this film in Hong Kong. Here this film was labeled “comedy”, which was totally wrong. I think those people who are here in the show business should really be more responsible and have respect to art works before they promote any of them.

The plot of this film is actually a sweet one. However, it could be better if the director had had paid more attention to the editing of the film. Many parts of the film, particularly many of the imaginations and some of the childhood memory parts are, in my opinion, not necessary. The film could be much better if those parts are eliminated and cut down to around 90 minutes.

KSW’s performance in this movie is again very good. Once again he proves that he can play well different character of very different personality. He is really a good actor. His appearance is OK to me and suits his role, though many audienance found it silly, especially his hairstyle.

KHN, on the other hand, lacked something in this movie. Though I still think she is a very good actress, I am a little bit disappointed. She could have given more liveliness to her role.

Gradually, I begin to like this movie more and more.

ok.. not great Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
Despite all ravings about this movie, i was actually very disappointed. The love story wasn't captivating, the leads were not the ones i would've chosen, and kwon sang woo just had a horrible haircut that was ridiculous. i guess my taste is more of a growing love, rather than this story where old friends realize their love for each other. as a kwon sang woo fan i wouldn't even really recommend this, but for those who enjoyed my tutor friend, you may find this to be a good movie. 7/10

Almost Perfect But Not Quite Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
Ji Hwan and Dal Rae have been friends since childhood. And as is natural for two people who have been friends that long, there's an unexplained closeness and comfortableness between the two. It's the kind of intimacy and coziness that blind them to the truth - that the two of them are in love and must have been since childhood, a truth that is obvious to others except to the people that matter: Ji Hwan and Dal Rae. Their light bickering, which is but normal for friends, suddenly turn into nasty arguments when both decide to date other people. This conflict in their relationship make them evaluate why each is bothered by the other seeing someone else.

A tragedy strikes and Ji Hwan loses his leg. Distressed by this unfortunate accident, he disappears from home and cuts all communication with everyone he left behind, including Dal Rae. After a year of soul searching, so to speak, he comes home, bearing a screenplay he wrote. This screenplay falls into the hands of Dal Rae. Will this revelation of Ji Hwan's feelings now cost him their friendship?

This movie reunites Kwon Sang Woo and Kim Ha Neul, stars of my favorite movie, My Tutor Friend. Expectations are high, therefore, that this movie will equal, if not surpass, the former. I was a bit disappointed, though. It's a beautiful story in itself, and I find no fault in the actors, but overall, the movie came out rather short in delivering the goods. There was probably too much, or maybe too little, of everything that I don't quite know what to make of it.

The dynamic slapstick blended well with the trips down memory lane but it gave way much too early to the melodrama, which, in my honest opinion, need not have been there. Or maybe it should have been.

I really don't know what to say with this movie except that I feel it should be perfect, but there's a flaw somewhere, somehow.

7 kimchi dishes out of 10.

Bad Movie Customer Review Rated Bad 3 - 3 out of 10
This is one of the worst movies from Korea. I belong to the minority of the reviewers giving a bad rating because of the inferior directing. Kim Ha Neul did not give her best in this movie. Who would giving that kind of bad directing? It could have been much better if the director gave more depth and thoughts to his work. I believe comedy and tragedy can be achieved successfully in one movie. But this movie is not here nor there because it is superficial. It is probably a good background movie if you have visitors and no body pays attention.
I recommend watching all Kim Ha Neul's other movies and TV drama series. She is really one of the best actresses in the industry.

just because of KSW Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
I don't think this is funny enough to be a comedy and I don't think the Beatles hair style suits Kwon too well. Kwon is a superior actor but I think he should stick to serious acting. This is a bit childish for him, but then the ending is not too bad. Still, I'll say get yourself a copy, just to support KSW!

Mostly Love - Lovely Film Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Although I might be breaking some sort of cardinal rule here, I actually think I enjoyed this film a bit more than "My Tutor Friend". Maybe this is due to the more caustic nature of Sang-woo and Ha-neul's characters in MTF that it seemed Love had to work overtime for them to eventually hit it off, (which they did of course...by some miracle), where in this film they are more connected by their childhood and affectionate memories together and are less at the verbal feisty cuffs. On top of that the OST is just wonderful and I really advise all who loved this film to get it. I have been playing this a lot recently and its worth all the high merit it gets - such great eclectic mixture of music and emotion.

Anyway, the film. Well, it isn't connected to the former dynamic duo's last film together as the references to "wanna die" etc., were jibes at MTF cliches (and deriving from "My Sassy Girl" of course). Saying "Almost Love" is a sequel to MTF is similar to saying that Shin Eun-kyung and Park Sang-myun being to together at the beginning of "A Perfect Match" is where their characters left off after "My Wife is a Gangster". So, its not a sequel. But, its nice to see these respected and highly likable talents together again and its certainly a good movie with a heart warming script and plenty of romantic allure. Interesting the message of understanding where Dal Rae's boyfriend concedes his love for her character after he read's Ji Hwan's written film script testimony. Heartbreaking. Maybe the film could have been a bit better, but the sentimental ending didn't lose itself as it easily could have, as the ending did hit home the fortunate ally that Sang-woo had in Ha Neul's character all along, helping him out of tragedy and pointing him in the right direction, not allowing him to give up. The last scene with Ha-Neul and Sang-woo was illuminating for me too, as I have never seen Ha Neul's face look so emotionally captivating and lovely in the snow scene that the film makers, I think, caught something really good there.

Again, I's say that all who enjoyed the film to get the OST- you won't regret it. Love Ha Neul and Sang-woo's clowning around picture on the cover (as to this DVD too!). And to any who have not seen this movie yet, yeah, its a lovely film with a sentimental ending, but certainly worth adding to your collection.

Kwon Sangwoo excels Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I rated this a 10 based on Sangwoo's performance. I bought the DVD not knowing anything about the movie other than Sangwoo and Haneul had been paired up again. When I started to watch the movie I thought the movie might be a sequel to MY TUTOR FRIEND since Haneul's actions, right down to her facial expressions, were straight out of MY TUTOR FRIEND. But after about the first 10 or 15 minutes I realized Sangwoo's character was definitely not the same and at about the same time Haneul's character normalized so I knew it wasn't a sequel to MY TUTOR FRIEND. Outside of those first 15 minutes the rest of the movie really worked for me. I especially enjoyed seeing Sangwoo in such a different role from what I'm use to seeing him in, and I've seen all of his movies now, and realized what a well rounded actor he really is. And the chemistry between the entire cast was great which added to the overall enjoyment of the movie plus I think the film was beautifully cast, all the actors were good. And for those of you who want a glimpse of Sangwoo's beautiful body, ALMOST LOVE will not disappoint you. Actually you get glimpses of 2 Sangwoo's, Kwon Sangwoo and Lee Sangwoo.

Hilarious Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
This movie does have some sad parts to it but majority of it is cute and funny. Your typical best friends falling in love type of movie but the chemistry between Kwon Sang-woo and Kim Ha-neul is great. You'll definitely laugh and cry with this one.
