YesAsia Editorial Description
Tony Lu Jun Gu, director of Bastard Swordsman and Iron Fisted Monk, helms the satirical 1981 martial arts extravaganza Ambitious Kung Fu Girl, featuring the beautiful and talented Michelle Yim Mai Suet, star of 36 Crazy Fists, The Butterfly Murders, and Ten Tigers Of Shaolin! In this Shaw Brothers adaptation of a Gu Long story, Yim plays Tian Si Si, a pampered young woman from a wealthy family, who dreams of one day marrying a famous swordsman named Qin Ge (Chan Koon Tai, from Big Brother Cheng and Challenge Of The Masters. Although set to marry an ordinary guy named Yang Fang (Yuen Tak), Si Si snubs her intended husband-to-be in favor of venturing off on her own in order to snag the man she's idolized for years. Along the way, she finds herself being thrown into one adventure after the other, each one full of twists and turns that eventually culminate in poor Si Si being sold off into slavery!
Will her idol Qin Ge be able to protect her? Or is it up to her jilted groom to swoop in and save the day? Or could it be that this ambitious kung fu girl has gotten just a little too ambitious for her own good? Full of excellent high wire fight choreography as well as some genuinely entertaining bits of comedy, Ambitious Kung Fu Girl, which features appearances from Lin Xu Jun (from TV's Ghost Husband, and Yuan De (from Women On The Run) and Austin Wai Tin Chin (from SPL), is one rib-tickling, action-packed kung fu film that can't be beat!

導演:魯俊谷
Director: Lu Chun Ku
The lovely Michelle Mei Suet, star of The 36 Crazy Fist and Ten Tigers Of Shaolin, plays a spoiled girl who ignores her true love to go off in search of a swordsman she idolizes. That sets the stage for one great action scene after another, until she’s about to be sold into slavery. If you want to bet that her true love arrives in the nick of time, you’d be a winner… as is this amusing and entertaining variation on the standard kung-fu film.

YUEN TAK IS FLAWLESS
| This movie is by the same team that created "The Master".The fight choreography is always amazing when Yuen Tak is involved. His swordplay is so fluid and his acting is always great. The only downfall to the film is the fact that it is suppose to be a comedy, and the women in this film are unfortunately horrible actresses. This film would be perfect if it was just a Yuen Tak vehicle.Do not miss his skills on screen! |

Great fun
| With a great Gu Long story turned into a script that's genuinely very funny, this parody wu xia feels almost like a Stephen Chow film. The excellent fight choreography is just icing on the cake. The action is quite progressive, featuring lots of wires and some imaginative choreography. What really stands out is the humour though, being quite smart and subtle compared to most of the kung fu comedies of the day. The film is highly entertaining from start to end. A minor revelation in fact! |
