TVB drama Angels and Devils, one of the few Hong Kong TV dramas about social workers, stars such famous actors as Chow Yun Fat, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, and Simon Yam. When aired in 1983, Angels and Devils inspired a lot of young people to join the social work profession. The story starts with a stuntman Fan (Chow Yun Fat) and a clerk Ho-man (Tony Leung) who coincidentally decide to have a career change. They join a community center as social workers, and then discover their mission in life. Ho-man falls in love with his colleague Yan (Rebecca Chan), but Yan's admirer, gangster Bo (Simon Yam), wants to kill Ho-man and Fan when they unknowingly get involved in Bo's drug deal...

Stuntman YUE FAN (CHOW YUN FAT) has been cohabiting with his girlfriend TO YEE-LING (YIU WAI). LING has got fed up with his irregular working patterns and the pair eventually split up. As a junior member of staff in a constancy firm. KONG HO-MAN (LEUNG CHIU WAI) feels neglected and decides to quit his job. FAN and MAN are good buddies. They have unwittingly involved in a drug trafficking case and are being pursued by SUNG PO(YAM TAT WAH), who is a hitman sent by a criminal gang. MAN starts a new job at a community center as a social worker. In the meantime, having experienced all the frustrations of recent days, FAN has also developed a new outlook on life. He choose to work along with MAN at the community center, in the hope of helping troubled youngsters back to the right path. Through his work, MAN gets to know a girl named HONG KA-YAN (CHAN SAU CHU), to whom PO s desperately attracted. PO starts courting YAN and goes on to seek to kill FAN and MAN. Will the buddies manage to extricate themselves from danger in the end?
