Adapted from Janet Lee Carey's novel Wenny Has Wings, Ano Sora wo Oboeteru is a powerful tale of love and loss through the eyes of a young child. Directed by Togashi Shin (The Angel's Egg), this affecting film delicately follows how a family changes and copes after the death of a family member. Appearing on the big screen for the first time since 2001's Calmi Cuori Appassionati, Takenouchi Yutaka forms a close-knit family with acclaimed actress Mizuno Miki (Carved, Bayside Shakedown) and child stars Hiroya Ryohei (A Tale of Mari and Three Puppies) and Yoshida Riko (Hanada Shonenshi).

Photo shop owner Masahito (Takenouchi Yutaka) and his wife Keiko (Mizuno Miki) have seemingly the perfect life, living in a small town rural town with son Eiji (Hirota Ryohei), daughter Erina (Yoshida Riko), and a golden retriever. All of this disappears in the blink of an eye when Eiji and Erina are involved in a tragic car accident. In that dark tunnel, Erina walks towards the light, and Eiji is left on earth to carry the guilt of failing to protect his little sister. Erina's death bears a grave toll on Eiji and his parents, and their previous happiness suddenly slips away. Eiji decides that he must do all he can to save his family from falling apart.
