Angst, romance, and rock 'n' roll come spinning at full speed in Aozora no Roulette (a.k.a. Roulette in the Blue Sky). Adapted from a Tsujiuchi Tomoki novel, this energetic, well-meaning youth film about holding on to love, friendship, and dreams in the bustle of the big city is comparable to crowd-pleasers like NANA, Tokyo Friends, and Rockers. Aozora no Roulette is a starring vehicle for up-and-coming heartthrob Shun Shioya who proved to be mighty prolific in 2007, also appearing in Robo Rock, Virgin Snow, Like a Dragon, and Zo no Senaka. Directed by Nishitani Shinichi (Hana), the film co-stars Kanjiya Shihori (Swing Girls, Shindo) as Shun's romantic interest, as well as familiar young faces like Sousuke Takaoka (Spring Snow), Kawamura Yousuke (Taiyou no Uta), and Shugo Oshinari (Battle Royale II, All About Lily Chou-Chou).

Window cleaners Tatsuyo, Yuusuke, Kazuma, Kudou, and Hagiwara are of different ages and backgrounds, but work side by side with their heads in the clouds. The oldest of the group, 40-year-old Hagiwara is already a husband and father but hasn't given up his dream of becoming a novelist. Young aspiring musicians Tatsuyo and Yuusuke keep trying their luck with record labels, but their demos go straight to the trash can. Tatsuyo does find a receptive listener though in Kanako, a young hearing-impaired woman who falls in love with Tatsuyo and his music. Tatsuyo and group continue to move toward their dreams with small steps and big hearts until one day an accident at work completely changes their lives.
