Good with some flaws. Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
Lot's of action - Check

Good Effects - Check

Grumpy Martial Arts experts teaching super powers to a bumbling cop - Check

Storyline - err whoops.

Good fun and worth a watch Arahan is only let down by the lack of much of a story beyond the usual 'that guy is bad go kick him in the head'. If more time had been spent with the masters and more explanation given to some parts of the film I would have probably given in another star.

Very watchable if a little light on story.

Too much chi Customer Review Rated Bad 4 - 4 out of 10
I went into this movie not expecting much, and I was suprised at the decent amount of action I got out of it. For the most part, the fight scenes were decently choreographed and the special effects were well integrated into the movie. However, I felt that the overall storyline was... well I don't want to call it predictable, but it was definetly not original and at times it was downright cliche. I also didn't find the lead actor very interesting. He seems more like the kind of person who would do well in a supporting role, but in the lead he just sort of came off as relatively bland (but a lot of that blame probably can rest on the script because his acting wasn't that bad). I sort of wish they had more humor added to the movie, I think I laughed like, once. As for the final fight scene, I really thought it dragged on. I kept catching myself looking away.

Bottom Line: This movie has some cookie cutter comedy, special FXed fight scenes, an interesting but cliche storyline, and a pretty straightforward (in an uninteresting way) main character. If you are looking for a movie with some good fight scenes that you won't remember in a week, this is for you.

Good Action Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
The combination of Ahn Sungki and Ryu is great. Action talaga. You will really like the effects and the stunts. The story is ok. You will enjoy it if you go for this kind of action.

Disappointed Customer Review Rated Bad 4 - 4 out of 10
This movie's quite famous, but it's not that good. I was expecting more of it, but until the movie ends, I didn't find anything more than the usual fighting scenes.
There were good laughing materials in it, but that's not enough for me to call it a good movie.

I won't recommend this to Korean movie lovers.

A bit above average stuff! Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
The film has some nice action/martial arts sequences (when it does finally gets to it... WAY PAST THE MID-POINT OF THE MOVIE!). My main complaints are probably the use of WAY TOO MUCH "wire-fu" in the last couple of fights and it takes TOO LONG to get the action going. Also, the plot feels a bit convoluted. What kept me awake was looking forward to glimpses of the lead actress (Yoon So-Yi... she's one pretty lady!).

3.5 stars out of 5 Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
This is not a top rated movie but it is fun to watch. It reminds me of The Sassy Girl on a different scale whereby the female character is stronger than the male. I might be biased but Ryoo Seung Bum is not as lovable as Cha Tae Hyun. Who would have thought Ahn Sung Ki could give such comical performance with deadpan seriousness.

You must see Arahan Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
Arahan was my first Korean martial arts movie and I enjoyed every angle of it. I found it to be humourous without being over the top. The storyline was explained throughout the movie so you couldn't get lost. There are alot of characters to keep you interested each one with their own personality. I recommend it as a good buy.

Great blend of action and comedy Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
A very well made, choreographed, action comedy. What sets this apart from other martial arts film is the humor and the great comic performance of Ryu sung Bum.

Although the humor might translate better in Korean, this is a well executed movie with tight martial arts. The movie does tend to drag on at the end, when the fight scenes seems to meander a bit.

By the way cops in Korea do not get any respect whatsoever. A day doesn't go by when a cop is not assaulted but a drunk businessman.
